"The hotel is cute and the staff is amazing. However, the hotel is old (decor needs a refresh) and somewhat dirty eg. behind the bed, cabinets, corners had lots of accumulated dusty balls (we dropped something behind the side table). The pool was closed to our disappointment. We didn't realize that summer started in mid-late July but not sure that should be reason for closure."

"I didn’t really like having to leave my shoes at the front and use public slippers, the bathroom was useful but a bit cramped and the cooler/heater was hard to get the right temperature in the room. But I really liked the hot tub onsen and the staff were mostly friendly. "

"Incredible. The vegetarian dishes were the best we ever had. Our room, the semi-suite was luxurious and welcoming. The staff was friendly and spoke very good English. We do not regret going to Koya and staying at the Ekoin. It was definitely a highlight in our trip. From the ceremonies to the food to the cemetery tour at night with an amazing guide. "
