Cheap Hotels & Resorts in Applecross from AU$134

Applecross is a small, rural destination, so the concept of different "areas" with varied hotel prices isn't really applicable; instead, you'll find a limited number of accommodation options scattered throughout the peninsula. For solo travellers seeking affordability, your best bet is to look for guesthouses, B&Bs, or self-catering cottages, as traditional hotels are scarce and often pricier here. The main village of Applecross, sometimes referred to as 'Shore Street', offers a few guesthouses and a pub with rooms that might be more budget-friendly than a full-service hotel. Staying here provides easy access to the local shop and the Applecross Inn, a popular spot for meals and a pint.Alternatively, consider looking slightly further afield on the peninsula, perhaps towards places like Camusterrach or Lonbain. These hamlets might offer more secluded self-catering options, which can be economical if you plan to cook your own meals. Public transport is very limited, so having your own vehicle is highly recommended to explore the area regardless of where you stay.

The most affordable time to visit Applecross, Scotland, for budget-conscious travellers is typically during the shoulder seasons, specifically late spring (April-May) or early autumn (September-October). During these months, you can often find better deals on accommodation and travel compared to the peak summer season. For solo travellers, these periods offer a quieter experience without the bustling crowds of mid-summer, making it easier to secure a spot at smaller guesthouses or B&Bs. The weather, while unpredictable, can still be mild, and the natural beauty of the area, from the blooming wildflowers in spring to the vibrant autumnal colours, is stunning. You'll also find that many local attractions and eateries are still open but without the premium pricing often seen in July and August.Families might find the early autumn particularly appealing. School holidays in September often mean fewer crowds, and the landscape is spectacular for outdoor activities like walking and exploring the coastline. Accommodation prices tend to drop after the main summer rush, and you can enjoy the same scenic drives, such as the famous Bealach na Bà, without the heavy traffic.
