Elsewhere in the village, The Bridge House is one of the most photographed spots in the Lake District, as is the dramatic Stock Ghyll Force waterfall (1 mile). Follow the river down to Galava Roman Fort at Borrans Park (1.5 miles), where Windermere sits below the imposing Loughrigg Fell. From Lake Windermere, you can join a cruise to Bowness and Lakeside or explore the historic grounds of Wray Castle (4 miles).

On entry, you'll be greeted by the flagstone flooring of the whitewashed kitchen, which features everything you need for cooking up holiday feasts. After each meal, unwind in the lounge space as you sink into the sofa, flick on the Smart TV, and fire up the wood burner for a cosy evening together. When the day comes to an end, climb the stairs to the first floor and take your pick from two bright and airy bedrooms: a master king-size room and a cosy single. Both bedrooms are served by a modern family shower room with a large walk-in shower and WC.
