About this property
Laundry Cottage - a house that sleeps 8 guests in 4 bedrooms
The modern design of the house makes the maximum use of natural light to provide a welcoming holiday home which is sure to be enjoyed by all. The cathedral ceiling in the sitting room, along with window walls to the Mountains and adjacent woodland, ensures a feeling of both space and peace. The house has a private setting with surrounding woodlands bursting with wildlife of all kinds. Whilst well off the beaten track, Laundry Cottage is only a few minutes stroll to the river and over the footbridge to the thriving town of Aberlour, where a good range of independent shops (including a not to be missed Deli), hotels and restaurants can be found. A short (country) walk up the hill through attractive woodlands takes you to the small village of Archiestown, which has a hotel/restaurant, post office & grocery shop. Slightly further afield (roughly a 30 minute drive) are Elgin and Grantown on Spey, offering a wider variety of supermarkets, shops and restaurants. There is an attractive walk (40 minutes or so) through the owner's woodland estate, down to Aberlour with a foot bridge over the river into town; but do note it is downhill all the way so the return home is slightly longer and more strenuous.
The choice of places to visit and things to do and see is numerous but briefly your itinerary might include an enjoyable visit to local distilleries at Aberlour and Cardhu, take in the Knockando Wool Mill, a day trip to the seaside town of Cullen or the Moray Firth with the chance of Dolphin and whales if you are lucky, a day to trip Inverness which is the Capital of the Highlands, visiting Elgin Cathedral and of course the wonderful Speyside countryside.
Outdoor activities include excellent fishing on the Spey, Mountain bike and cycling routes, pleasant walks on the Speyside Way or more strenuous walks and climbs in the nearby Cairngorm Mountains. The cottage has a lockable store shed for fishing tackle, bikes and canoes, with a useful heated boot lobby/rear vestibule for wet outdoor kit.

My husband and I and 2 friends stayed for a week with 2 dogs, the cottage itself was everything we had hoped for. It was beautiful and spacious, extremely clean and very well equipped. We had a lovely week and the weather was amazing which was an added bonus. We will definitely be going again.

Beautiful location and property, communication was hit and miss with Discover Scotland but questions were answered eventually. Systems took a bit of working out (ovens shut off from the mains, no hot water, some pans took some fiddling to work on induction top). Lovely cozy modern cottage especially in the snow, but be warned the road out is impassable if the snow turn slushy or glazes over even with all-wheel drive. We were stuck trying to drive out and had to be towed off the road. Thanks to the local farmer we were able to dig (and grit) our way out the next day and the owner allowed us to pay for an extra night's stay. Excellent location with nice walks (Linn Falls) and the shops in Aberlour a 15 walk across the bridge. Handy when you need provisions for an unplanned additional night. Overall a lovely stay and we highly recommend!
