Nuevo Vallarta

This purpose-built coastal resort features a long sandy beach, family-friendly hotels, golf, water sports and wildlife.

Encompassing beaches and forest-clad hills, Nuevo Vallarta is an attractive resort with an abundance of opportunities for outdoor fun. Frequented by families, honeymooners and adventure seekers, this area is one of the most popular vacation spots on the south coast of Nayarit. Enjoy a relaxed beach getaway or an activity-filled escape with hiking, water sports and more.

Extending for several miles along the resort’s coastline is Nuevo Vallarta Beach. Throw down a towel or sit beneath the shade of a palm tree or umbrella and gaze out across the glistening Pacific Ocean. Go for an invigorating swim in the mild water or try water sports such as bodyboarding, parasailing and windsurfing. The nearby Aquaventuras Park features waterslides, a lazy river and the chance to swim with dolphins.

Join an excursion to the Marieta Islands, a dedicated UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and a fantastic location for scuba diving and snorkeling. While here, swim through a water tunnel to access the idyllic Hidden Beach.

Banderas Bay is populated with a plethora of sea creatures. Between December and March, boat tours take passengers out on the sea in search of humpback whales. Look for nesting sea turtles at Flamingos Beach between July and December.

Out of the water, all-inclusive hotels, budget accommodations and spas frame the resort’s palm-lined streets. Browse the stores at Paradise Plaza Shopping Center or choose between the pristine greens and fairways of four excellent golf courses. Within the resort are El Tigre Golf Club, Mayan Palace Golf Course and Vidanta Golf Nayar, while Flamingos Golf Club is just a 15-minute drive north.

Embark on daytrips to other atmospheric beach villages on the south coast of Nayarit. Head north to Bucerías, celebrity haunt Punta Mita and surfer’s paradise Sayulita. Find Mismaloya and Yelapa south of Puerto Vallarta.

Reach Nuevo Vallarta by flying to Puerto Vallarta International Airport and rent a car from there. Many hotels also operate shuttle services to and from the airport. With blue skies and consistently warm temperatures, Nuevo Vallarta is a year-round destination though rain showers are more frequent in summer.
