Saint-Germain-en-Laye is one of Paris's wealthiest suburbs. Its spectacular château was the residence of several French monarchs, and the birthplace of Louis XIV. The palace now houses the Museum of National Archaeology and features a 2.4 km terrace with stunning views across the Seine towards Paris. A traditional festival, La Fête des Loges, runs for much of the summer.
