“Cool place to stay”
We loved this hotel. It is located right near the Piassa De Popolo which leads you to many main streets to walk to attractions, so it is close to everything. We walked everywhere which is a blast to do in Rome. They upgraded us for free which was nice. They have an outstanding free breakfast buffet that included eggs, meats, cheeses, desserts, sparking wine . . . They play classic rock in all areas of the hotel. They have two computers for guest to use for free, which helped us to check email and give updates on Facebook. There are some great restaurants very close as well. We would stay there again.
“Unbeatable Location, Great Value!!!”
Great location about 7 minutes from the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain. Easy to find - convenient by the Metro (Red Line, Fluminco stop). We were upgraded to a Deluxe room, which had a great bathroom and comfortable beds. Breakfast had lots of variety and was delicious. Hotel bar offered 50% during Happy Hour (6-10). Very helpful staff (though not the most knowledgable, they try). If you're interested in a tour of the Vatican, I recommend using Angel Tours (knowledgable, reasonable, youthful, helpful, English-speaking, small groups). Nearby were 3 main shopping streets, the main one (del Corso) leads to the main Piazza by the Roman Forum and Colosseum (literally 10 minutes walk if you walk quickly). Would be honored to stay here again!
“Bella!!!”
This was a trip of a life time!! We have a group of friends that wanted to take a trip outside of America we all decided on Rome being that we lived (husband and I) there 10 years ago it would be great to have them experience what we did the food the culture and the wonderful historical sites filled our imaginations. The hotel was outstanding in all ways from customer service to the cleaniness of the room. Everyone that work in the hotel was friendly and willing to help as much as possible. Expedia did a wonderful job by keeping us inform about changes. Your site is true to word. I was a little uneasy about using a site such as this but it paid off tremdously. Thank you to Expedia and River Palace for such outstanding services.
“Not great for business but good for vacationers”
Just completed an 8 day stay at the River Palace while attending a conference. Overall the hotel was well appointed and would certainly be acceptable for those on a vacation/holiday where you are busy sightseeing all day. However, I was here for business and the River Palace was not a good choice, especially after seeing numerous other hotels (of my colleagues) in the same price range. A particular challenge was internet access – the connection was spotty to begin with, and the last 72 hours of my trip it was down completely everywhere in the hotel. This was a huge issue, especially as I had work to do every day. I would seriously recommend considering another hotel if internet access is a priority. The benefits of the River Palace include easy access to Piazza Popolo, a short walk to historic sights (an easy 15-20 minutes), a nice breakfast, and a nice happy hour with snacks (perfect for returning after a long day of sightseeing). However, there is no gym, the rooms are small (the single rooms are like a closet) as are the showers (VERY tiny), and the staff can be a bit rude. Overall, River Palace is probably fine for those on holiday but business travelers can probably fine something with more reliable amenities.
“Fantastic hotel with great staff”
Very friendly and helpful hotel in a convenient location.
“Great Location In Rome”
This was a wonderful hotel in a great location. Close to the Metro and walking distance to the Spanish Steps, Piazza del Popolo and the three main streets in the area. There was plenty of shopping and restaurants. We loved the hotel. The deluxe room was perfect for my husband and I even though it was smaller than what we are accustomed to it was plenty of room for us and our our two large suitcases. The breakfast buffet was nice and a great selection of items. We would recommend this hotel as well as stay there when we make our next trip to Rome.
“It is truly palatial”
This was our first visit to Rome so I do not profess to know much about the competitor hotels. But, I can say that it is unimaginable to us to think that there are any better hotels in the city. Our room was truly palatial and the entire hotel staff were nothing less than wonderful during our 4 night stay. Centrally located, 100 meters from the subway, ability to walk to the Vatican, (about 30minutes), Spanish steps, (about 10minutes), upscale and moderate shopping (10 minutes) and a block from the Piazza Popolo (gateway to everything). Our guide spent 8 hours with us touring Rome by car and foot and we were never more than 30 minutes from the hotel and that includes the catacombs. We would strongly suggest hiring a private guide when visiting the Vatican and purchase your tickets online prior to arrival. Your guide and pre purchased tickets will save you hours standing on line. A truly exceptional hotel in a charming and vibrant city.
“Excellent Hotel for Rome”
River Palace is an excellent hotel well deserving of previous comments and its 4-star rating. The staff is proficient, friendly and helpful. Its location 100 meters from Piazza Popolo provides easy access to subway, piazza experience and Borghesse park. When we return to Rome, River Palace will be our first choice of hotels. Review based upon length of stay 6 nights late April to early May.
“Fantastic breakfast.”
Lovely choice for a stop over in Rome before a cruise. Within walking distance of major sights and shopping. Small rooms but adequate. Best breakfast choices in any hotel in Rome.
“Best Breakfast Ever!!!”
Beautiful hotel, wonderful staff, best breakfast ever! Very classy decor, sparkling clean room, chocolates and the next day's weather report on your pillow each evening. Favorite place we stayed at in the three weeks we spent in Europe. The breakfast alone was worth the price of the hotel each night! Highly recommend.
