“Brilliant Hotel...”

The staff of the Hotel Galatea were extremely helpful to us in what was actually a very traumatic time. As our flight back to Gatwick was cancelled due to the recent volcano eruption, we and hundreds of other people were desperate to find a hotel . After phoning the Hotel Galatea, they ensured that they could find us a room, true to their word, on our return they gave us a better room but only charged us the same price as we had payed before. Also, they jiggled things around so that we could have a room for the next four days even though they were fully booked. The staff were very helpful and reasuring, even sorting us out a taxi when our transfer back to airport did not turn up. I highly reccomend this hotel and if we returned to Rome ourselves I would not hesitate to book here again. Thank you hotel Galatea for some stability in what was actually a rather stressful time.

“Location x3”

While the hotel is set within a multi-tenant one-time residential palace that has seen better days, the hotel rooms are clean though needing brighter lighting if you wish to read or study written documents for any length of time. The staff was exceptionally helpful in every way possible and is generally able to communicate in English. The location provides walking access to some of the most important historical attractions as well as great shopping areas in the heart of Rome. Everything from the Victor Emmanuel monument to the colliseum are within less than a kilometer from the hotel. Wonderful restaurants ranging from local watering holes to family restaurants to high dining establishments can be found within walking distance of the hotel as well. All priced accordingly, of course. We look forward to our return to ROme and to the Galatea Hotel for a more intense visit to all of the historical sites within the city this coming year.

“A bit of an adventure to find it, but it's worth it!”

Once you have negotiated the alley and elevator access, you will arrive in the lovely Zen-like lobby of the Hotel Galatea. The friendly staff will direct you to your small, immaculate, cool room with a perfectly renovated large bath. Right outside you will find a lovely trattoria New Mary Meeting and around the corner, a 2 blk. walk to the Metro, or down 2 blks. thru the tunnel and to the left is the astonishing Trevi where you can enjoy dinner and a gelato and the amazing sculptures. This is the place to be to enjoy a wonderful room in the heart of ancient Roma if you are watching your budget.

“Will be returning.”

Great hotel for the price. Very clean and tidy and everybody fluent in English. Great location for walking to major attractions and 64 bus stops outside to take you to St Peter's. Only complaint about the room was the bed was a little hard - I personally don't mind that but some people might. The hotel itself is great, don't let the somewhat less impressive front entrance put you off - the hotel is on the third floor and is impeccably presented. I didn't try the restaurant but overheard others saying they thought it was great. Thoroughly recommended.

“Will stay at tis hotel again”

There is nothing in my experience to take issue with this hotel. Our room was comfortable and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location was perfect for visiting the historical part of Rome - Collesium and Forum within easy walking distance..For those who wish to venture further the metro is ideally sited again within walking distance.

“Outstanding Accomodations for a Great Price”

The Hotel staff at the front desk were very nice and very helpful! The Hotel itself was very clean and nice! It is also in a great location! We walked almost everywhere with no problem! I was very impressed with the accomodations for the price I paid! I will definately stay there again when I go back to Rome!

“Nice hotel in a good location”

A nice hotel in a good location in Rome. It really isn't far to walk to the Trevi Fountain or some of Rome's other hotspots. It's not on a main road so it's nice and quiet. The staff all spoke decent English and were only too happy to help us when we needed to book trips to Tivoli and tickets to the Galleria Borghese. It's located on the third floor of an appartment building but there is a lift if you don't want to take the stairs. I can recommend the hotel if you're on a budget.

“great location”

this hotel was in a perfect location just ten minutes or so from the coloseum and forum, ten minutes from termini, and about 15 from the spanish steps right in between it all. the republic subway stop was only 5 minutes away and easy to get around from there as well. There were plenty of nice restaurants and bars nearby on via nationale. The hotel sits back on a quiet little street right off of nationale and scared us a bit as we walked up to it as the courtyard was dark and few signs but upon riding the old-school elevator to the third floor where it was located it was immaculate inside.

“Would definitely stay again”

Hotel Galatea is very clean, roomy (for a European hotel), and comfortable. It's a smallish hotel (on the 3rd floor of an old palace, which is now an apartment building with an inner courtyard) which gives it a little of the feel of a B&B but the conveniences of a "real" hotel. The bathroom was the biggest and closest to "american"-styled of any hotel I've stayed at in Europe (full tub/shower!). The staff speaks English and the location is very close to Stazione Termini, where most people arrive. Overall, clean, comfy, convenient, and quiet. We would definitely stay again.
