“Derby Disappointment”
Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel lobby was very nice, clean with a comfortable lounge. It STOPS there. Our room was pint size. Carpeting was extremely filthy! Bring bedrooms slippers if you stay here. Our friends traveling with us directly across the hall had the same complaint with the carpet. Very small bathroom. Location was good with walking distance to the restaurants, Metro, Effiel Tower, Napoleon Tomb and Rua Clare area. We would NEVER stay here again. There are SO many other hotels in Paris to choose from.
“adequate”
hotel is convenient to Tour Eiffel area. rooms need updating and maintenance. desk staff was helpful, cleaning staff does a fine job. a/c is free standing unit vented through glass window, takes up a lot of space where there really isn't a lot. room small on 6th floor, tiny balcony with view of tour Eiffel. reasonably priced.
“Tiny room but great location. View of Eiffel Tower.”
Having been traveling for a while by this stage we were disappointed by the size of the room. The staff were not particularly helpful and didn't seem to care. On the positive side, it was in a great location within walking distance of plenty of cafes, the metro and the Eiffel Tower. We had a view of the tower from our room.
“Good location, but would not return.”
Just arrived from our four day stay in Paris. After reading many of the reviews, we knew that the accommodations would be pretty basic. They were. First thing you notice as you enter the room, is the musty smell of dirty socks. The room was really tiny and cramped, and barely allowed for two travelers and our luggage. The room's size wasn't such a big deal, since we spent most of the time out and on the go. There is a window air conditioner that requires that it's water bucket be dumped out regularly. The staff at the front desk were helpful, and assisted in setting up a reasonably priced shuttle to CDG airport. No complaints on the hotel staff. Oh, one more thing, there are no irons in the bedrooms. Overall, we had a good time during our stay, the location was perfect and only a ten minute walk to the Eiffel Tower. There is also a market around the corner which was really convenient for buying lite snacks and drinks.
“Can't wait to go back, great hotel, great locations, great service”
This hotel is great in location, service, very clean, the neighborhood is wanderfull,
“Loved It”
The hotel was in a great location for the Eiffel Tower and it was very easy to get to other sites around Paris. The hotel staff was WONDERFUL in helping us with getting transportation, helping with info about attractions and were not rude or disrespectful. We plan to go back to this hotel when we go back!!
“Great Location”
The Hotel Derby Eiffel is in a very plesant neighbourhood and is just a 15 minute walk from the Eiffel Tower.Tree lined streets, cafes, restaurants, metro station and supermarket are all adjacent and first impressions of the hotel are charming. The hotel rooms however are very plain and unappealing. The size of the triple room and bathroom was adequate for 3 people and larger than our expectations. Weighing all this up, it was value for money and because of the location and neighbourhood we would stay there again.
“Cute boutique hotel in the heart of where you want to be!”
Staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. Location is fabulous for walking to the Eiffel Tower and lots of great cafes are in the area. Caution: elevator is extremely small, but that is typical in many European hotels.
“Good location for sightseeing and services”
The hotel is within a couple of minutes from Metro station and Eiffel Tower. The room size is not large but that is not unusual for hotels in Paris. The wi fi connection was good and the hotel staff were helpful. For groceries and cafes only a short walk around to Avenue La Motte Piquet is required. You will find streets running off the Avenue will have cafes, bakeries, fresh fruit shops, etc can easily be found.
“Great Location but Hotel is Awful”
I was very disappointed. I would not stay again. Pictures on the various websites make the rooms look larger, more appealing than they really are. Extremely cramped. The carpet was disgusting; frayed, dusty and dirty. I wouldn't walk barefoot on it. Cental AC was a big reason for my booking. It is not central AC, it is a portable plastic unit mentioned in other reviews; do not cool the room well, has water buckets that has to be emptied and hose attached to the window that prevents you from being able to close the curtains or fully open the window, it takes up a lot of room in an already cramped space. With a rate as high as it was, I expected better. The desk staff was not at all helpful. My fiancee has a torn rotator cuff and is in a lot of pain. He needs 2 or 3 pillows to prop up on at night. The room had 2 pillows. We asked for an additional pillow or two at the desk and were sneered at. We were told that we could not have additional pillows because that would mean taking them away from other guests. Hard to believe they don't have some extra pillows around. They also would not call a cab for us as they said it would take over an hour. Stayed in June and the bed had heavy wool blanket plus heavy bedspread. Room at front of hotel had lot of street noise but not the expected Eiffel Tower view. Breakfast very expensive, went to boulangerie instead. But the location is great - very close to Ecole Militaire metro, Eiffel Tower, and Napoleon's Tomb.
