“Location!”
Great value - a not-expensive old hotel just half a block from Times Square. Elevators arrive instantly to clean rooms, each with a quick-filling bathtub, great after a day of walking through New York City
“Our Excellent Edison Hotel experience.”
The hotel is in an excellent position, less than a minute into the centre of Times Square with theatres, restaurants & major tourist attractioins extremely close by. The hotel is very Art Deco & therefore many of the rooms features, are at first sight, quite dated but on reflection you realise that modern handles & switches would look out of place & spoil the image. Some rooms paint & paper are a little tired but it would appear that this is part of an on going maintenance update program, as new large rolls of carpets were seen at the rear of the lobby awaiting installation. Like many hotels in New York, do not go there expecting peace & quiet, do not forget it is the City That Does Not Sleep. There is always a siren going, lorry delivering or a local verbalising his opinion 24 hours a day. Even with double glazed windows there is still a constant New York Buzz going on to remind you where you are. The bed was very comfortable & daily room house keeping well executed, good bathroom linen supplied & replenished. For our first time in the Big Apple, the hotel is a major contributing factor for a growing desire to visit again, in the not too distant future, for a longer period of time. The hotel has a Deli & Itallian restaurant within the building which means you eat breakfast or evening meal before walking round the corner to a local theatre or attraction. Staff are very professional & courteous. I would not hesitate in recommending the hotel to friends & family.
“Excellent hotel in fantastic location”
Great hotel offering brilliant value in an incredibly central location. Staff very friendly and helpful for the most part. Rooms are apparently going through an upgrading process at the moment, which is good as ours was looking a bit tired - nothing major though and still a great place to stay!
“This hotel provided everything I needed.”
Great location, the reception and lobby are beautiful - getting out of the lift the hallway looked drab in comparison and smelled a little funny - I was nervous about what the room might look like - but once I saw it I was very happy, it had a lounge with a sofa bed, a bathroom and bedroom (I had booked a deluxe room so unsure if all rooms are like this) all three rooms very clean and cosy, not too modern but had a quaint charm to them. The shower was always hot, there was an iron and board and a hairdryer so no need to pack these. You can go to Danny's Deli next door for breakfast this is much better priced than the hotel (Don't expect smiles there - they cook fast and serve fast) If you have not already booked tickets for a show then you can usually get them up to half price on Times Square - I highly recommend The Jersey Boys - we saw it twice it was so good. I would stay here again it was a great base for our trip and we had a great night sleep every night. If you want more from your hotel then you can book the Waldorf Astoria - otherwise this is perfect.
“Perfect Hotel in NYC”
I don't ever do these reviews but I felt I had to this time. I travel a ton for work and I stay in alot of Hotels. I have come to understand what you'll get in NYC but this Hotel and it's staff blew me away. I had one small problem with the AC and they took VERY good care of me. THey moved me to a Jr Suite and left a bottle of wine for the troubles. They also extended my stay by a night free of charge. The hotel is perfectly located for time square and the shows, food and night life within walking distance. I will never stay anywhere else while in the city from now on. I am a Hotel Eddison fan for life!!!!
“Great Stay”
I go to NY alot. I must say this is the best hotel I've stayed at in a long time. Thank you to all the staff for such a good stay.
“Excellent hotel and location”
Having read previous reviews for The Edison Hotel I was a bit apprehensive but just thought as long as the rooms were clean that was all we needed as we didn't intend spending much time in the hotel, more as a base to sleep and location was excellent - just 50 metres from Times Square! We were pleasantly surprised on arrival. The Art Deco interior of the reception area and areas off were lovely. Reception staff very helpful and efficient. Our room on 7th floor at front of hotel was large with huge bed and large sofa bed, plenty of storage space, a small but ample new bathroom/shower suite, with TV and free ice from the machine. We experienced no noise from adjoining rooms or corridors, however, there was building work taking place opposite the hotel which did start about 6.30am but no fault of the hotel. No charge for safety deposit box at Reception and only 50 cents per bag to store securely on day of departure. Maintenance was brilliant - we couldn't unlock our door to get out the first morning, telephoned Reception and within 5 minutes the maintenance man arrived to fix it. Cannot comment on food as we weren't around to eat at mealtimes, spent all day out sightseeing.
“Great place to stay if you love theater!”
Location is great! Staff is great! Room was great except for the fact that the chairs were short as well as the toilet, which isn't a problem unless you have long legs. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom is small but it works and the shower was fine. Had to pay for WIFI. We have stayed there many times and have never been disappointed.
“Great Hotel”
Great hotel in a great location! Just steps from Times Square!
“Great New York Bargin”
Have just spent a week here and can't find any fault with it. It's in a great location and good value for money plus, you have access to print your boarding passes for free which is a great bonus. Will be using this now for all my future New York stays.
