“Friedly and comfortable”
A friendly and comfortable hotel with the added bonus of a complimentary breakfast every morning (most unusual in NY hotels). Its decor is not the height of fashion and its lobby is not large but its midtown location cannot be faulted (5th avenue is 5 mins away, as is Grand Central station and the R0ckefeller Centre) and there are 2 subway stops close by. The staff were all very helpful - look out for the magician on the front desk. Wew had a great stay.
“recent april visit”
We have stayed here several times, now, and will return again and again. The hotel is well cared for, staff pleasant, rooms clean and very big for New York, beds comfortable and location is great. Walking distance to shopping, dining and theater.
“5-star service; better than big names”
Outstanding hotel. The service and upkeep are outstanding. My wife and two daughters stayed in a double queen room and were very pleased. Convenient location on upper east side; easy to get around. We will definitely go back. Staff very helpful; arrange for car pick-up which was on-time; gave us umbrellas when it rained and they said we could keep them if we wanted. Front desk gentleman is best in city.
“Loved the San Carlos Hotel”
My 80 year old mother, 16 year old daughter and myself stayed at the San Carlos from Sat. to Sunday. Hotel is in wonderful location. Room was spotless...beds so comfortable. The continental breaksfast was really nice. Just enough to get you going in the morning. Clean, clean, clean!
“Good place to stay in NYC”
We stayed at the San Carlos the week of Thanksgiving and were very impressed with this hotel and its services. The front desk staff were very helpful and friendly. When we arrived at noon, we were able to get our room right away and when we left, we were given a late checkout time. The room was very clean and comfortable, as well as being quite spacious. We felt relaxed here and slept very well...it was so quiet. This is a great place to stay, but is a bit of a walk to Times Square. It is about 9 blocks to Central Park and about 9 blocks the other way to Times Square and the Theatre District.
“Great location and value for money”
Second visit to this hotel, still really like it. Free continental breakfast and WiFi are a big bonus. Excellent beds, no plumbing noises from other rooms. Hard to beat I would think.
“Comfortable, easy place to stay”
Convenient to subway stops, shopping, nearby restaurants; staff went out of their way to accomodate requests and help locate sites/sights; comfortable space for two adults and two small children.
“Tops On My List”
I've stayed in a lot of different places in NYC and now I have a new favorite. Staff - Excellent. Location - Great. Rooms - Spacious & Comfortable. The staff was always accomodating and helpful with directions, suggestions on places to eat or places to see in the neighborhood. This location is awesome. The north-south subway is 1-block away and the east-west is only 3-blocks (can get you to JFK for only $7) Easy to walk to all the major tourist attraction in midtown.
“Great hotel”
Great hotel. Room very nice and clean. Plenty of room for 2 people. Excellent continental breakfast included with plenty to set you up for a day of none stop walking. Trust me! Great service with staff being very friendly, especially the cool doorman who got us our taxi back to the airport when we left. Would recommend to anyone whose going to New York for any reason. Subway station just round the corner which we used a lot to get all over manhatten and many other great sites near by. We would definately stay again when we go back to New York City!!
“New York, San Carlos - so good you'll go there twice!”
We spent 4 nights in the San Carlos and we would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a reasonably priced place to stay in Manhattan. It was spotlessly clean, the fittings etc all looked very new and stylish. The staff were really friendly and very helpful. There was a good complementary continental breakfast to set you up for the morning. Situated in Midtown, it was central for all the tourist must-see places. You could walk to most of them, including Central Park. There is a great diner right across the street and posh asian restaurant next door. We would definitely stay here next time! Only down side was our Blue Van Super Shuttle transport did not show up, despite being pre-booked, confirmed and 3 follow up calls. Due to this we missed our flight home. Hotel staff were great in organising alternative transport to airport. Can't wait to go back to New York and San Carlos!
