“Lovely hotel in an amazing city”
Great location! Lovely hotel, very cosy. Staff very helpful. Can't wait to go back!
“Great base to explore the Big Apple”
A beautiful hotel, near to some of the most popular tourist attractions and shopping areas in New York and just by the subway so the location is ideal to explore New York.
“City break hotel”
The hotel had been taken over by Marriot a few weeks before our stay. We had a junior suite on the 11th floor - large and well equipped. It did look over the adjacent street with building work going on but that didn't spoil the room apart from the early start on the building site! The staff were most attentive and the room was checked by housekeeping twice a day with clean towels and bathrobes. We didn't book breakfast as we wanted to have the variety of eating in the city but had bruch on Sunday - highly recommended!
“Great room for families”
We are a frequent travelling family, and have been to Rome, Singapore, Edinbrugh, Playa del Carmen for example this year. We stayed here for one week, in a junior suite with our 5 and 7 year old girls. The room is very spacious, modern, clean and classy. We missed a cartle, which was brought up quickly. The location of the hotel, across from central park (south/city side) is just spot on. Most attractions are within easy walking distance or managable by near by metro. Highly recommend it for anyone, especially for families. Decent price for the junior suite as well!
Happily reccommend and look forward to returning! Great location. Beautiful hotel, friendly and helpful staff, clean and well presented. Unpleasant cooking smells in our corridor and room on a few nights but just must have been near kitchens so can't be helped. A real grand hotel which made my first visit to the city super special!
“if you want luxury and comfort this hotel delivers”
The hotel was of the highest standard, the room were excellent and was in the best location for seeing everything. The hotel restaurant was very good, the service was wonderful. Facing central park it was ideal for the major shops and bars, Time square was minutes away, couldn't find a single fault!
My husband and I spent 5 nights at the Essex House, we booked this hotel because we were familiar with the Jumeirah name. Expedia offered a great package since we booked three months in advance. It was still pricey. Our check in was delayed about 2 hours due to a "computer glitch." I assumed this was due to the facility being recently purchased by Marriott. I was preparing to be disappointed. Ms. Fatima at the front desk said for me to call her if I had any problems with the room. We were assigned room 3314, thirty-third floor, bright, corner room overlooking Central Park and the Manhattan skyline. It was spectacular. We ate breakfast once in the hotel restaurant, good food, but pricey. There are many places to eat nearby, from fancy restaurants to diners, fast food places, my favorites are the "Halal Carts" found on the street, they offer good food for a good price. This hotel is near subway stations and great shopping. Some reviewers mentioned the lights were confusing in the room, we "played" with them until we figured them out. A call to the front desk could have clarified how to use them. When I did see Ms. Fatima all I could say was "no complaints and we'll be back."
“Great hotel for tourists”
Great location and staff - concierge very helpful in finding tickets. Rooms much larger than usual for NY, and very quiet
This is a New York classic. It retains all the classic features and has been renovated and maintained befitting early art deco. You can feel old New York and old money throughout. It has a comfortable feeling indeed. This is our third time at the Essex. The facility, location, restaurant, comfort, and service are best. We take the small suite for a wealth of seating, a comfortable king bed, and multiple windows. The hot water never quits. Marriott is maintaining the Essex nicely.
“Amazing hotel, awesome staff, poor wifi”
Hotel is awesome, staff is even better. Also loved the restaurant. The only thing we did not like at all was the internet connection, it was free, but very poor.
