I really would love to see any sign at the train station (Stop), or the big name so no mistake to go right or left to the hill. After all nice room.

Although this hotel is outside Barcelona, it is located very close to the station (Montcada Ripollet on No 3 train line) which gives you access to both Barcelona City (about 20 minutes) and Granollers (also about 20 minutes). It has a small shopping centre right next to it which is nice for not having to eat in the hotel all the time, but not much of anything else but housing in the vicinity.

Let me start with the hotel itself: clean, modern, new, friendly concierge, free internet / wifi. The hotel is definitely 4stars in quality. The swimming pool at the top floor is extremely nice, albeit cold. It is not a heated pool. Now the location: it is roughly 45mins away from the city center. If you plan on driving, it probably isn't an issue, but if you are taking the train, it does affect the experience - negatively. In June 2010, there was construction in the Metro/Train system so the "easy" 1 transfer ride to Moncada ended up being 2 chaotic transfers.. from Train to Metro to another metro and then back to train. Add to that your heavy luggage, up and down on the stairs, and limited english of the locals, then it becomes a hassle. If you are a tourist that is only in Barcelona for a few days, then stay in the city center. The experience is so much better when you are right in the city center. Sercotel is a nice hotel, but is definitely far from the action.

I was very pleased with my one week stay at this hotel. For what I wanted out of my trip, late June 2011, this hotel had everything I needed. Was clean, smart with tasteful yet simple modern deco. Staff were friendly, professional and attentive. Very helpful when finding me places to eat and printing out maps and giving good general info. I had two nice evening meals which had a good deal offered on a three course meal, and was very well prepared, if a little modest in portions. I used the small functional gym a few times and the wifi quality was excellent. The sunroof was not too busy and rather small with a small pool but was kitted out with deck chairs. Good views. There was even free internet usage on the computers in the foyer area. The only info I felt could have been more helpful was based on what was the best way to get from and to the airport to the hotel. They obviously wanted me to take a taxi at some point and told me to take the train to Montcada Reixac... but it can be avoided if you take the Spanish rail type train (not the tube/underground train as it were) and go to Montcada Ripollet. The hotel is just 100 metres away from this station. I went on this break for sun, relaxation and leisurely walks. This spot was ideal. There is not a lot to do in the immediate area but if you walk due north east from the front of the hotel about 400 metres through the flats and small roads, eventually you get to a huge hilly park/fields which I spent a few days strolling in.

Very nice decor, staff friendly enough. Hotel is in the middle of no where. No pubs, 1 restaurant, based in a residential area. The address said Montcada Reixac, it is no where near this location, probably 30 minute walk from the hotel from this location if u know the area. If u don't know the area like we did not it took us about an hour, asking the locals & most of them havnt even heard of the hotel. The taxi from the bus station in Barcelona was going to cost us over 100€ so we took the cheaper option of taking the train which cost like €4. to catch the nearest train to the hotel the station is called montcada ripollet NOT Montcada Reixac. Do not make this mistake like we did because if you do not speak any spanish the locals will not understand you. thankfully i can speak spanish and we finally found the hotel. Also the train Montcada ripollet stops near the airport. The pool looks amazing in the pictures, but it is tiny, fits about 6 people in the pool & thats feeling cramped. The windows do not open in the room so we constantly had to have the aircon on. Whatever you do, DO NOT go to the WOK restaurant beside the hotel. the food was disgusting. my husband wanted some prawns, when they got to the table the awful smell of off fish made my stomach churn. the prawn was green inside. we stayed at the hotel for 4 nights we ate here the 2nd night and both of us had a mild case of food poisining for the rest of the trip. Overall nice hotel but wouldnt venture out there again!
