“Enjoyed our stay in Viareggio!”

The location of the Palace Hotel was fantastic because we were minutes from the beach and we found the swimming facilities, beachfront, and water to be the best in the Mediterranean during our trip. The room and bathroom were very large, modern, and clean, the air conditioning worked, and we loved the private balcony. Our one concern was the parking issue. The hotel advertises that it offers parking, but we found out that this is not as it seems as we had to park several blocks away from the hotel.

“Would try to stay again at the same hotel.”

The hotel was excellent for friendlyness and quality of room and bathroom. Had excellent breakfastg choices. Location is excellent for easy acess to bus station and railroad station. Only disappointment was the one evening we tried the hotel's restaurant. There were only two other couples in the restaurant and yet we had to wait over one hour to be served. Nothing really special cooked for us. Would not go back to the hotel's restaurant which is separate from where breakfast is served. However, the same wait staff and pretty slow in morning asking us for our beverage order. We stayed 13 days and several tiems we had to go to wait staff to order beverage. The reception staff most helpful. The hotel has a beautiful terracne overlooking the ocean.

“Would stay again, be wary about the others”

After reading severl reviews on the Palace Hotel, I was a bit wary about choosing it, but in the end, it came down to price, and I managed to book the Palace (albeit in the off-season) for cheap rate, which, it turned out, was an amazing bargain. I'll just say that, in comparison to the other hotels of its calibre, I probably paid about 1/3 (or less) of the going price. While in Viareggio, most of the other hotels were closed for the season, but, from all outward appearances, I would be cautious about booking any of them, or trusting their so-called star ratings. The Palace, while not luxurious (again, dont believe any of the stars they give there) was just right for what I needed. Old-style luxury maybe, but very nice all around. The service was excellent. The only drawback as I saw it was the lack of certain modern conveniences, such as an alarm clock which I needed, but internet would have also been nice. But I take it this type of hotel caters to a clientele beyond my means (and years). If you can get it for a good rate, definitely go for it. I would again in a heartbeat.

“Good value.”

I stayed at the Palace with my wife and we were both very satisfied with the hotel. The hotel is well situated just across the road from the beach. The room was a good size as was the bathroom. The sun terrace was very pleasant with great views. The staff were all courteous and helpful. The buffet breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. We considered the hotel very good value and look forward to our next visit.

“Good place to stay”

Very helpful staff. Fantastic views from roof terrace. Very enjoyable pre dinner snacks on roof terrace. Hotel just across from beach--- Though does cost 23 Euros to hire two chairs, one sun umbrella and use if beach pool for the day. Lovely holiday experience. Hotel centrally situated along very long sea front.

“Old world charm!”

Some other reviews were critical of the hotel for being a bit "old" and in need of upgrading. However, for us this was part of its European charm. Our room was very comfortable and we were grateful for the air conditioning. We only used the restaurant for breakfast, which was excellent. The highlight of the hotel was, without doubt, the roof terrace! Fantastic for sunbathing ( especially if you don't want to pay the cost of going to the beach every day ) and really lovely for a drink at night.

“Value for money holiday”

This was a very comfortable, friendly hotel. The staff were always willing to help. We didn't have our evening meal at the hotel as we wanted to try the local restaurants, but breakfast was very good. Our room was large, there were three of us, and the extra bed caused no problems. The only let down was that the room could have done with being re-decorated as it was rather 'tired', but it was kept clean. This hotel is excellently situated for visiting Florence, Piza and Lucca and the trains are easy and close by. Would recommend to anyone who wants value for money.

“old era hotel.”

nice older property well maintained. good location right on the shopping promenade. only comment I have is that we were not told before that the access to the beach was an additional charge and that the use of the pool was another charge. other than that very nice experience.
