“Will stay there again”
Comfortable hotel.
“A great downtoen LA hotel”
The highlight of this hotel must be the spa and pool area on the 13th floor. The nightime view of downtown LA from this vantage point is spectacular! Our room on the 12th floor was tastefully, decorated, spotlessly clean and the shower was great. The king size bed was very comfortable and the lack of traffic in downtown at weekends made for a very good night's sleep. The room lacked a mini bar and the latest audio / video but these weren't top of our agenda anyway. The staff were friendly and attentive. Our car was fetched promptly form the valet parking and a request for non down pillows was dealt with relatively efficiently (there was a trial run where many more feather pillows were delivered first!) The location is great for exploring downtown. Historic Spring St., Broadway, Bunker Hill and MOCA / Walt Disney concert hall are all within easy walking distance. There is a coffee shop across the street and a good convernience store around the corner. Caesys Irish Bar is only one block away for great beer and real pub food. If more sophisticated dining is on your agenda then there seem to be multiple well recommended restaurants in the downtown area. If you intend to visit the LA Live area or Staples center then expect a 15-20 min walk or 5 min taxi ride.
“Very impressed”
Very nice hotel. The affordable price through expedia. No refregiator is only bad thing.
“Will definately be back.”
We had some special requests and the hotel was so very accommodating. Loved the service. Food was fantastic.
“Hilton is a gem in Downtown”
This was my first time in the United States. I at first had my accommodation booked at the Kawada in Downtown but I had heard some bad review about the area that it lay in. Now the whole point of staying in Downtown Los Angeles was to be close to the Staples Center where the Lakers played basketball as I went there to see three games. I must say I was worried at first at staying downtown, but the motel was very close (15 min walk) to the staples center and everyone was very helpful who worked there. The staff would welcome me back every time I came in and out of the building, they had no problem in fulfilling my requests with a curious smile and there is a gem of a restaurant called the checkers in the building. The motel itself is a bit old - but I had a pleasant week there and I recommend it to anyone who has to stay downtown for whatever reason.
“LA's best hotel”
Quiet and smart
“Hilton's Checkers Hotel is first class!!”
Great hotel, definitely a 4-star establishment. The bed was extremely comfortable and the staff was very accommodating. The valet parking was kind of high, but hey, you get what you pay for.
“Give Checkers a try!”
Although Checkers was pricey, it was in downtown LA. The people who worked there were incredibly helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay there again.
“Hilton Checkers Downtown LA”
Affordable luxury in a convenient location in the Downtown section of LA. Fantastic top-floor heated pool and hot tub with a spectcular evening view of Downtown. Classy bar. Friendly front desk service and active/visible security in the evening. Highy recommended.
“Nice boutique hotel in the heart of LA”
We stayed here one night before heading back to Las Vegas. The hotel is located in downtown LA, and therefore the only gripe I had was the $38 daily parking fee. The rooms are smaller than typical but nicely appointed and have a great view of the city. The bed was comfortable and the doormen were always helpful.
