A British icon since its 1889 opening, The Savoy A Fairmont Managed Hotel features authentic Edwardian and Art Deco design, completely restored in 2010 under Pierre Yves Rochon's direction.
Once frequented by Winston Churchill, Savoy Grill now serves classic dishes by Gordon Ramsay, while River Restaurant highlights seasonal local ingredients in modern French fare. Guests can relax with cocktails in the famed American Bar, and Beaufort Bar, built on the original cabaret stage, offers champagnes by the glass. Traditional afternoon tea is served below the Thames Foyer's re-created glass-domed ceiling.
The glass-enclosed fitness center offers cardio machines with flat-screen TVs, and a rooftop swimming pool—rare in London—receives natural daylight from the atrium above. Shopping is available at Boodles fine jeweller and Shop at The Savoy, which offers clothing, accessories, and bespoke gifts.
Guests can watch pastry chefs and chocolatiers create cakes and confectionery at the bijou Savoy Tea. The shop features packaged Savoy tea, handmade jam, biscuits, and fresh pastries, as well as tea accessories such as the hotel's china tea service.

“London's finest”
Our first trip to London and could not have selected a better hotel. Great location, comfortable rooms, every imaginable amenity and impeccable service. We would definitely go back.
“If you can afford it, stay here! It is just impeccible on every level.”
We haven't stayed at that many hotels of this caliber, but if you can afford it, this hotel is stunningly beautiful.
“Great hotel”
The location is very good and you can access practically most of the underground lines with in short walking distant. The service is excellent and all the staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. The room size is a bit small but that's typical European hotel. The only draw back we had, was we were in the lobby bar and ordered some drinks after our long day and we never got our drinks and it got to the point that we simply just did not want to wait any longer, so we canceled which they promptly did. Be sure you check your bill upon checking out. Ours included some of the items which we did not use such as long distant telephone calls to some far away land, a bill at the hotel restaurant, etc,etc...but the hotel when alerted, promptly took these charges out Overall, we would recommended this hotel definitely
“Nice hotel, questionable service”
We stayed at the Savoy for five days, and overall we were pretty satisfied but the service definitely had some rough edges. This is a fairly expensive hotel, and it shows up in things like the cost of meals. When ordering a meal in the restaurant, the waiter added things to the bill that we did not order. We were made doubtful about taking the water in the room because everything was so ridiculously expensive. We've stayed in comparable class hotels around the world (Italy, French Polynesia, Hawaii, New York, etc), but we felt that the Savoy did not completely live up to the standards of other five-star hotels. The room was uncomfortably hot and when we asked about how to correct it, they indicated that they couldn't fix it. The concierge was particularly unhelpful, and seemed to think that many tasks were beneath his attention. We got the impression that there was a caste system among the staff of the hotel, which is a poor attitude to display openly. The room was very comfortably, but the view outside our window consisted of an 8" high pile of pigeon droppings. The location was good and the room was fairly nice - but we doubt that it was worth the price. We probably wouldn't stay there again.
“Even better than we imagined”
We have stayed in several of the nicest hotels in London (including the Chancery Court and Hotel 41) and nonetheless were impressed, especially by the quality of the service. Housekeeping was excellent and you cannot stand in one spot for more than a couple of minutes without someone walking by asking if you need anything. We had a very loud guest across the hall, and the Savoy offered to speak with him or move us to a different room (we moved). We tried both bars and were twice pleased (we did not eat in the hotel, largely because we are vegetarians). Be sure to note there is a dress code for most public areas; not formal but no shorts and sneakers. The spa was nice. Just a great overall experience. And a great theatre location (we saw five plays in six days, all close by).
“Costly But Worth It”
The renovation at the Savoy is spectacular, as are the rooms and service. The hotel is centrally located within walking distance to Covent Gardens and many other must-see locations. I had lunch at the River restaurant - the food was spectaclar, the drinks properly mixed, and the service attentive but not intrusive. If you are looking for a "place to crash" while you visit London, do not stay here. The hotel is too costly to be used as a crash pad. However, if you are looking for a well rounded vacation experience and are willing to treat yourself, the Savoy is worth the cost.
