“Convenient location, pleasant staff, good value”

Kensington Gardens Hotel is close to both Bayswater and Queensway Underground Stations. It is only 200 yards to Whiteleys shopping center (fashion, groceries, and restaurants) and less than a 10 minute walk to Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens. The manager of the hotel greets you with a friendly smile upon arrival and answers all questions and concerns about getting around London and will happily help guests book sightseeing tours and shuttles or taxis to the airport upon departure. The reason I rated the comfort of the room a 3 is because the rooms are a bit small but include nightstands, a desk and chair, and a closet. The mattresses, bedding, and pillows are very comfortable and really that's the most important thing because there's so much to see and do in London, you won't need the room for much more than a good night's sleep.

Getting around
If this is your first time in London, I recommend taking the Big Bus Tour on the first day and if there is time, book it for 2 days for just a little more money. It's a hop-on/hop off bus where you can stop at the sites you want to visit. My husband and I spent the first day riding the bus without getting off noting what we wanted to see the second day. A boat ride on the Thames is included with the fare and that is also a wonderful way to see the most important and beautiful sites of London. Start early, though. There is so much to see.

“Not impressed”

Tiny room without toilet - toilet is in the hallway outside the room. Hot. No help with luggage going to 4th floor without elevator - very steep stairs. Wifi signal in the room weak, unusable.

“cozy friendly hotel”

Hotel is small but clean and well run. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. It is very centrally located with great access to the Underground. The shower had great water pressure. The only draw back is that there is no elevator so, if you have a lot of luggage it will require hauling up stairs. Some rooms share a toilet. Our room had the toilet in the room. If you need to have your own toilet, verify before booking.

Area recommendations
Soho is great with all the theaters and good shopping. Also the area around Covent Garden. Lots of cure boutiques. Westminister has loads of historical sights. Kensington also has lots of character.

“Best hotel for the money in London”

You can't beat this place for the money. Small room, which is common in Europe, but very clean and a great staff. Underground station is a 5 minute walk. There is a laundry one street over where you can leave clothes to be washed and picked up later or do them yourself. Tons of great places to eat all over.

Area recommendations
Any place near an underground station is good. Bayswater, Pimlico and Earls court are all good and have lots of inexpensive hotels
Events and shows
most people buy theater tickets at the discount booths, which are good, however you can sometimes get better deals buying the ticket at the theater.

“Did not fail my expectations from the travel review! A GEM!”

It was my first time to visit London. The only way I can choose a hotel to stay is through reading the travel opinions posted. The opinions that catches my attention from this hotel were the reasonable price, safety, cleanliness, accesibility, and customer service. And, Indeed never failed my expectations. The hotel is in the safe environment. I did not have problem sharing the bathroom, it was immaculately clean. The room was kept clean and supplied well with toiletries and towels, each day. The hotel is a walking distance to Bayswater and Queensway underground tube and buses to Central London. The front desk were friendly and accomodating for questions you may have. If you are traveling via Heathrow Airport , I recommendf to purchase in advance your Heathrow Express to London Paddington ticket available here at Expedia. When you arrive at Paddington Station take the Bayswater Underground Tube to take you to the hotel which is a block away. Also make sure to purchase an Oyster card available in the station, for tube and bus transport. Walking distances for restaurants, fastfood, grocery, money exchange, and souvenir shops. Few tips: bargain for souvenir shopping, shop around for money exchange, keep in hand your tube and bus map available in the train station, go to visitor center to get all your free maps and guide. The only negatives, no lift, you hear footstep above you, and conversation from the next room. But, I will come back at KGH. With its deal you hit a jackpot!

Area recommendations
Just visit a visitor area to get all your free maps. It's a matter of your preference, but the entire Central London was amazing. I enjoyed my trip each areas has something unique and amazing to offer you. I recommend the river cruise at the London Eye, for you to see all the historical bridges in London. I purchased a Cruise and London Eye package it's worth it. There are lots of packages it's all a matter of your preference. Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square (National Museum in the square), Wesminster Abbey, Big Ben, Parliament building, are all walking distances in that area. Make sure you have a good pairs of walking shoes. Notting Hill is a walking distance to the Kensington Garden Hotel via Queensway, a nice area to walk with good restaurants, groceries, and pub. Hyde Park is at Queensway, there are bikes available for rent. If you like to walk less you may take the hop in and out tourist buses but it will cost you money. I chose to walk and use buses and tubes to transfer me from one area to the other using my Oyster card. Great saving. I have seen so many beautiful places. I can't give specific recommendation, but if you wish to see specific area just get the information at the visitor area. DO NOT HESITATE to ask questions the people of London were friendly and accomodating. And the tourist itself are helpful too. It's amazing in London! Indeed, I be going back! Enjoy!
What to pack
Make sure to pack as light as possible. It will be very difficult carrying all those luggages if you are traveling using the tube and/or buses to and from the airport to hotel. However, if you want to use the taxi service that will be fine, but it will cost you money. Also, check the weather condition prior to your travel. Don't forget a mini umbrella, there were showers at times. If you are traveling from USA buy an electric converter for the hotel. My hotel only provided me one converter, I have to charge my phone, camera, ipod, so it will take more than one. Hope this help.
