A very nice hotel. The room was comfortable and we liked the small pool. There is a spa, sauna and gym equipment. There is a roof area with loungers and a tub. Breakfast is very good with a large selection of fruits and cereals and the Italian version of bacon and eggs. I won't comment on the evening meals as Italians eat a bit different to English. Finally the staff, excellent

Good value and friendly great location
Not in peak condition but traditional Italian old style . Restaurant was good and reasonable prices . Considering the room rate I would say good value for money , and view of lake across the way . Nice friendly staff , parking and garage good .

My wife and I and new baby really enjoyed our stay. It was clean, the staff were friendly and the food was very good. The bed was a firm mattress, which suited us!

Comfortable quiet hotel
Evening meal good with interesting choices. Reception helpful and friendly. Breakfast selection large but scrambled eggs frequently cold, rubbery and green. On request provided with a good quantity of gluten free food. Also had a kettle and extras in the bedroom plus a fridge There is no sitting area except the main reception and also the bar is in the dining room. Outdoor space limited but there are nice sun decks with a hot tub on one.

Nice hotel in good location and close to lake
Good selection of food at breakfast, bar service available till midnight. Airconditioning works well in rooms which are a little on the small side. Swimming pool very nice for splashing around in but not for serious swimmers. Hotel appeared slightly understaffed at peak meal times but the staff are incredibly good-natured and hard working. Be nice to them. Nearest lake swimming is 5 min walk away. Nice beach cafe but - dead fish and dog poo on pebbly beaches. Ducks and swans can be a nuisance. Water is weed-ridden. We decided not to swim in the lake. There is a better looking public beach at the tip of Sirmione beyond Catullo's Grotto (well worth a look, as well as the Roman villa in Desenzano). Recommend evening aperitif at BarRio_58 and then eating at Rossi e Rossi.

Nice 3 star hotel.
This is a nice 3 star hotel. Situated approx 30 mins walk to Desenzano and 2hrs walk to Simione castle. Friendly multilingual staff Very clean and tidy. Room was quiet and the bed was very comfy. We didn't use the facilities i.e. pool, spa tub etc as we left the hotel in the morning and came back late at night. But they did look quite good. We did use the free hotel bikes for a couple of days ( we were being charged for using them for more than 3 hrs on the final bill. But when disputed that this was not mentioned or shown anywhere this was quickly deleted) The paths are wide and used for cyclists as well as pedestrians. So make use of them and go exploring 👍 Need to know Do not expect the hotel to be situated on the lake as per description. You have to cross a main road outside of the hotel and walk down a narrow road to the lake. Approx 500 metres. There were no views of the lake from the balcony. The trees have obviously grown since the pictures were taken. You could see some of the lake from the rooftop though WiFi was good around the reception area and public areas, but in the room I got a very vague signal near the door but no where else in the room. Pet are allowed ( unlike Expedia description) and several dogs were taken in the breakfast room during our stay but were no trouble. Electric sockets in the room were all mainly the modern 3 pin plug, bar one 2 pin socket that was in the bathroom. So if you intend to charge a lot of gadgets, take 3 pin adapters.

An ideal hotel - good location near lake. Close to handy bus links. Our only gripe was that the sheets were not changed during a 6 night stay - otherwise a great base to stay.

Welcoming hotel in convenient location
We stayed for 10 days at this hotel and it was a fantastic base for our first trip to Lake Garda. All the staff were really friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. The hotel itself is clean and comfortable. Breakfasts were good with lots of choice. The fresh fruit salad was delicious. We also ate at the hotel twice in the evening and the food was very good. The room was comfortable and clean - my only slight criticism is that the mattress was firmer than I like (but of course that is personal preference - my husband thought it was perfect!). The location was brilliant - a 2 minute stroll to the lake and boardwalk. It's roughly a 30 minute walk into Desenzano town from where you can catch the ferry to other locations on the lake or the train to Milan (50 mins) or Venice (1 hour 40). Just round the corner from the hotel is a lovely area called Rivoltella which has some good restaurants and a great ice cream parlour. A big plus for the hotel is that they have bikes which you can borrow. These are well maintained - we particularly enjoyed cycling to Sirmione and sailing past the long line of cars queuing up to get there!

Great hotel, but needs some improvements
Location was great. The hotels looks better than in pictures. Staff at the reception and restaurant very helpful and easy to talk to. The food was very good - breakfast and dinner. However, the restaurant did not offer a wide range of choices for dinner. We were disappointed by the cleaning of the rooms, as the towels weren't changed as they were supposed to. Smell in the bathroom and lack of hand soap (no refill).

Our 2nd visit - another comfortable stay
Our 2nd time here and efforts have been made to 'spruce it up' which is nice. Unfortunately our experience of the 'hot tub' this time wasn't good - water level low & not warm ! On asking a girl at reception she said she didn't know how to remedy it and someone would be back to help - they didn't arrive. Another day a helpful lady topped it up with a hose pipe but needless to say the level dropped and it wasn't warm! Anyway, very helpful staff in general especially when I car broke down! And breakfast is plentiful

Had a family room for 2 nights. Only had breakfast, which was very good. Enjoyed using the complimentary bicycles. Very comfortable hotel, no hidden surprises. Hot tub most welcome!

Hotel a 50 meters from lago de Garda
The room was not cleaned yet when we arrived knowing that check in time starts at 2pm and we arrived 4:20pm we waited for 15 minutes to have it ready. There was no hand wash liquid on the sink. The cleaner didn't clean the floor in the toilet the 2nd day of our stay. The room aircondition not working, we did opened the veranda door and it was so noisy outside as our room opposite the road hearing people talking and cars passing. For 2nights stay we didn't have a good rest.

Excellent Base for Lake Visit
We stayed here for 4 nights on our first visit to Italy. The hotel is well located for drivers looking for a base from which to tour the surrounding area. The rooms are spacious and clean with large bathrooms and a balcony. A/C is provided and a small fridge and safe. Good buffet breakfast. Nice pool and sun terrace and very near the beach at Rivoltella. Staff left us to it, but if we needed them, they were friendly, polite and helpful. I wouldn't recommend this hotel if you want to just lie by the pool all day, their are prettier spots to do that, but for our needs it was absolutely ideal.

Excellent hotel in every way.
Hotel was wonderful. Excellent facilities with very close proximity to the lake. When a medical crisis ocurred the staff went beyond the call of duty to assist. Overall an extremely good holiday.

Great stay in Desenzano
Hotel Admiral was a find. We had a room with a huge balcony area that came with chairs and a table. It's a little outside the town but the hotel has free bikes (with locks) for visitors, which allowed us take in Sirmione as well as Desenzano. More time would have allowed us explore other towns. There is a choice of bike types. It also has free underground parking. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. The room was spotlessly clean. If there was a downside it was not having enough seating area in our room. The breakfast was adequate with a reasonable choice of items. Would stay again no problem

A great 3 star hotel
A top 3 star class hotel. Great for guest with a car as there is security underground in-door parking. Only 3 min walk to the Lake. There is no electric kettle in room, but the lady in the restaurant was so helpful in providing hot water and cups once requested. The Hotel is a bit dated but clean and comfortable, balcony in each room is an added advantage. The breakfast is great and better than most 4 star hotel in Europe.

We stayed for 8 nights here. The clientele was mixed, English, Italian but were in the main German and there was quite a turnover....so it's a popular hotel. It was very good value overall with a generously varied buffet breakfast included. Some clients seemed to be half board. We ate at the hotel one evening and it was OK. The room was fine although the bed was very hard! we had a room facing the street. I don't know why but the balcony lights were left on by the hotel until early hours which was a bit annoying but not so annoying as the neighbours opposite who had 2 very noisy dogs which they left out most of the time and which barked at any and everything! The road position was not an issue but the dogs constant barking was, for us. The lake was easily accessible as was Desenzano, Sirmione and Verona. Buses are regular but not necessarily on time. We walked a great deal which was easy walking. Local markets are good and plentiful. Local restaurants also very good.

Modern Hotel with Good Facilities
Really lovely week at Lake Garda, just outside Desenzano. Nice rooms, about 100m from the lake shore. About a twenty minute walk from the centre of Desenzano, or use the free hotel bikes and get there in half the time! Polite and friendly staff, especially the housekeeping staff in the mornings! Nice pool, sauna, multi gym and hot tub on the roof top terrace. Ate dinner here on one of the nights and found it to be nice, home cooked Italian style food which fitted the brief perfectly. I would have eaten here more, if there wasn't such a wide choice of excellent restaurants in the vicinity. I was surprised at what good value the food and drinks were in the hotel, much cheaper than the local cafe and bars! A good base for exploring the south side of the lake, Sirmione is a must see! Beautiful Roman villa that has been mostly excavated and has a really interesting visitor centre. We went there on the bikes, but there are plenty of options with regular buses or taxis. Whilst mentioning transport links, this hotel is a 10 Euro taxi ride from the train station, on the main Milan to Venice line! We made full use of this, with two trips to Verona and one to beautiful Venice. Italy is a true feast for the senses and this area has far too many attractions to list, but I would have to say that this hotel made an ideal base for us and had everything that we needed at a very reasonable price.

Stayed for 3 nights. Wifi is pretty much non exsistant. The location isn't the best if you don't have a car although they do have bikes which was good. Don't be fooled when they say gym or fitness area it's really nothing.. A couple of bits of equipment in a tiny space. All in all a bit tired and needs a refurb but not too bad for the price. Staff very friendly and helpful

Nice small and friendly hotel close to to the lake
Five days of sunshine and boat trips enjoyed by my sister and I. We walked into Desenzano which took about 30 to 40mins depending on the heat and preferred the lake side path. Rivoltella just a short walk in the other direction and has cafes and a few shops. Had a day and a bit of just relaxing and using the pool and hot tub. Great views from roof top terrace. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great holiday.

Great location, lovely room
Lovely, quiet, small hotel which has good transport links to get out and about, both on the lake and by train. Room was comfortable (bed great level of firmness for us) and good size. We went for a suite, found it unusual that the other room had 2 single beds rather than a sofa bed which is what we are used to. Tap started leaking and was repaired very quickly. Good shower. Walk to town is about half hour, buses every hour for 1 Euro (bargain!), also to Sirmione which was more expensive but sometimes worked better for boat times.

Good base to explore the Lake
We didn't have a car but found the hotel easy to get to by train. We made use of the bikes at the hotel which was a really good way to explore. Desenzano was a good 20 to 30 minute walk but easy to get the ferries from there. The hotel staff were very friendly and spoke good English. We would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Good hotel in good location. 2mins to lakeshore. good breakfast and helpful staff. Good swimming pool and rooftop jaccuzzi. Free use of bikes great to explore the area.Good restaurants nearby and excellent ice cream shop in Rivotella. This is our 3rd stay here in the last few years and will definitely go back in the future. Our son and his girlfriend with us this time and they enjoyed the area and hotel too.

Excellent hotel in a brilliant location, it is right on the edge of the lake with a bus stop nearby making getting around very easy and stress free. Local train station has brilliant links to many great cities incl. Venice, Milan and Verona. Hotel has excellent facilities incl a pool and gym, it is very clean and well maintained. Staff were very polite and very helpful being able to speak good english. Overall an excellent hotel in a great location.
