“A quiet oasis of fun, food and new friends!”
Milky bay is half way between two of the main cities on the island of Kho phangan and is somewhat mis - leadingly represented by a small sign hidden between a petrol station and a small supermarket. Arriving on a hot humid day after several hours on a cramped ferry and spending the last week in what could be considered half star accomodation our main thought was oh no not again..... However what we found behind such an inauspicious location was a little slice of heaven. Spread out over a small grounds is what could only be described as a tropical oasis - palm trees, shaded grounds, private beach this resort had it all. Staying in the smallest room we were still granted a free bottle of champaigne, massive double bed, bathroom, ensuite, living area, tv and most important air con! The pool, restuarant and bar area all over look the small private beach and had views of what is one of the most fantastic sunsets to be seen in all of thailand. Food and drink that were served were all of the highest 5 star quality - even when the power went out over the whole island! Whilst the food, location and rooms were all outstanding what made this resort were the staff and the atmosphere. Friendly, eager to please and quite willing to share a game of pool, join us in a party or help us get ready for a big night they made this resort worth coming back for! so for honeymooners, friends, couples or families i would highly recommend this resort - sheer bliss!
“Milky Bay comes up with the goods”
Best place we stayed at of the 6 on our holiday would recommend
“Great Hotel”
The hotel was very clean, great service and staff were really fun and friendly. The only thing about the hotel is that the lighting in the rooms is abit dark ie. the bathroom. Massages were great and the food was delicious (western food also available, great woodfire pizza's and pasta#)!!! Staff were always extremely nice and friendly. WIFI doesnt really work in the rooms it doesnt pick up the signal, only picks up at reception #it is free through). The restaurant is right on the beach, nice pool.
“Lovely hotel, great service and amazing bar / food”
Lovely hotel! Initially we booked into the superior double and whilst the room was lively, we were very disappointed by the bathroom -70s style and clearly not updated in a while with a yellowing power shower box. We paid to upgrade to the villa / bungalow and it was great, spacious and comfortable and more modern. Only complaint about this is villa 4 had sliding patio doors which didn't feel so secure as the wooden doors of all the other villas. Food was amazing and reasonably priced and the inclusive breakfast is freshly made to order - nicer than a buffet! Drinks were reasonable especially during happy hour, cocktails were delicious. Pool and beach are great though 14 sun loungers for the whole place aren't really enough! There's a free pool and table tennis table - good fun though you will have competition from the hotel staff of you want to use them though they are supposed to be working they tend to hog the pool table from the paying guests! Overall, a lovey few days, and I would gladly return
“Wonderful Resort, just don't take the boat trip they offer!”
This was a wonderful, super friendly resort in a perfect location, just far enough away from the drunken idiots in Haad Rin but close enough for a 100 baht ride to get to the beach or to Thong Sala. We were there for full moon party which is amazing by the way and it was nice to get back to a quiet hotel. So, the boat trip that is for offer in the lobby, on the Orion, to the beautiful archipelego offshore is definitely to be avoided. We had a death-defying traumatic experience on the boat and would never recommend this trip to ANYONE, EVER! The captain of this big, wooden boat had no business taking us out in the terrible weather that ensued and consequently, half of the boat was throwing up and scared to the point of crying. We never got to snorkel, or see any of the things the brochure promised. When the weather turned really bad, the crew had no regard to its passengers and even denied life jackets to the girls on the upper deck! If you want to see the offshore islands, I recommend a speedboat--much safer and comfortable. Anyhow, I don't think the resort itself is directly related to these unprofessional people that run the Orion, but they do offer the trip, which is why I rant about it now. Otherwise, we loved Milky Bay, it's yummy free breakfasts, and friendly staff. If the each itself were actually swimmable (very shallow) this would be a 10 out of 10 kind of place.
“Great place - lovely location!”
