“Nice hotel to see Istanbul from”
You have a view of the ocean from the hotel restaurant. The room was nice. Breakfast was free and good, but mostly it's a European style breakfast with lunch meat, cheese etc. Fresh squeezed juice and omlettes to order were extra. The location was just two blocks from the Blue Mosque. Three or four to the tram station. Withing two blocks you could find more restaurants than you can count and within one block a bazaar with every kind of store you'll find in Istanbul. Aya Sofia (aka Hagia Sofia) was only three blocks. Just another block or two to Topkapi Palace and an easy tram ride to almost anywhere else you'd want to see. The staff was helpful. Sometimes finding someone with good English was difficult.
“Very happy stay”
Beautiful hotel, great service, lovely breakfast, very conveniently placed for most of the sites in Sultanahmet. The immediate area is quiet in the evening which is great if you want peace and quiet but you can get to the trendy lively area within a 10 min taxi ride or on the tram. Only slight downside is we had one of the rooms right next to the train line (most rooms aren't though) which was a bit noisy but we very soon got used to it and it didn't stop us sleeping... a lot.
“Marvellous”
Everything was perfect. The staff came to our taxi before we even got off to help us, so we knew we were going to be very well looked after. The decor is magical and very tasteful (the hotel has just been refurbished). The staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is great and the terrace of the hotel has a view on the Bosphorus and the Marmara sea. Our room also had a view on the great mosk! You can enjoy breakfast indoors in a very nice room or outdoors on the second terrace. We didn't have dinner there but I think the prices were very reasonable in comparison to the restaurants in the area (bearing in mind that the restaurants in the area didn't have the elegant decor or the view that the hotel was offering). I'll give it 15 out of 10!
“can't wait to go back”
Nice and clean hotel, but staff and service can be better...
“Great weekend!”
Went to Istanbul to meet up with friends and to do Bosphorus cruise which we missed last time.Hotel was just right for all the attractions.Lovely room with garden attached where you have breakfast and rooftop restaurant/bar looked lovely too, although we never made it that far!Recommended definately.
“Great value for money, clean and comfortable”
located 600M walk down from the Blue Mosque, its great value for money. We stayed in a variety of rooms because we were in and out of Istanbul. Not all rooms are equal. Some are only meters from the railway line, some are large, some are small. Some have tea and coffee making facilities some do not Staff are friendly and helpful. All rooms were clean and serviced avery day. We have travelled all over turkey and by comparison, the breakfast is excellent, and all amenties work. Beds are comfortable. The hotel has a good clean and professional feel about it. We will stay here again next year.
“Perfect base for all the main sites”
We booked this hotel after reading good reviews on trip advisor and were delighted with how centrally placed it was in the heart of the old city. A couple of minutes away from the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. Recently renovated, it is an attractive hotel with a bright and airy breakfast room. We had booked a family room and were a bit disappointed to find ourselves in the basement of the adjoining hotel building. However. we realised that this had an advantage of being very quiet. Only criticisms were that the rooms was very dark and there should have been better lighting in the breakfast room in the evening (as you had to pass through it to get to our room). We also thought a kettle should have been provided in standard rooms without needing to ask. The lady on the front desk was really helpful and friendly and the staff generally were fab with my 9 year old daughter. Thanks for a great stay.
“Ottoman Splendour”
A fabulous small hotel near to the old attractions of Blue Mosque and Topkapi the Avicenna hotel provides a peaceful haven away from the bustling city, especially sitting on their rooftop terrace with views over the Sea of Marmara. The rooms are small but beautiful and are scrupulously clean and cared for.
“Small but nice”
We booked a 'suite' at this hotel, which meant a small alcove and balcony added to a standard room. The room was very well appointed and clean, with a nice comfy bed. But the room was also very small for two people. Not a problem in our case, but travellers should understand this in advance. There was quite a bit of tension on check-in, with a stressed clerk who was dealing with too much at once. She wound up in a heated argument with a dissatisfied client. Nevertheless, after a couple hours wait and a forceful intervention to get some attention of my own, she checked us in a bit early. The breakfast room is very pretty and the food standard. The dining room upstairs is fabulous, with great views, friendly service, pretty good food, and reasonable prices. Best of all, this hotel is in a perfect location for touring on foot in the old town. Everything is minutes away.
“Excellent location. Helpful staff.”
Charming renovated building superbly located for all the major attractions in the old town. We walked everywhere and felt very safe at all times. Staff are very willing and eager. Rather too eager perhaps to sell excursion packages etc. Various room types are available but all seem decent enough and very clean. Good breakfast spread, but do not expect an English style fry-up. We tried the hotel restaurant for dinner once. The food was good (sea bass), but service was amateurish. There are several varied and very good restaurants near by which are moderately priced. We would definitely stay in this hotel if we ever go back to Istanbul
