“Pleasantly surprised, would definitely stay again next time in Brighton”

Staff were polite and helpful, carried my bags to the room. Brilliant location by the beach. Room clean and modern, pleasantly surprised considering cheap price.

“What a dump!”

I arrived at the Iron Duke Hotel on Friday, and could not possible stay there, what a dump!!! The reception was non existent, I was required to check in at the bar which was full of most unsavoury characters. I was shown to the room (6) which was filthy, worn and sticky carpets, wardrobe falling over held up by only a radiator, rickety bedside table, and no bathroom facilities. Other guest rooms on the floor all open with people prancing around. Felt most unsafe and unclean. They tried to charge me again for the room, and also told me that breakfast was extra. It was to be served in the bar ( there is no restaurant ). I managed to find alternative accomodation( very nice at not much extra cost) and moved out ASAP from this unsavoury establishment. As an old customer of Expedia, I hope you will negotiate a refund for me, and I recommend that in the interest of Expedias reputation, you remove this place from your listings. The room and the place looked nothing like the photos on your website. I was told by a member of the staff of the hotel where I finally stayed, that the Iron Duke has the reputation of a hostel , and mainly accomodates cheap stag and hen parties. It was disgusting!
