“Airport hotel in Residential neighborhood”

The hotel is well maintained in a posh residential neighborhood close to the FCO airport. The staff at the hotel is helpful and speaks English as well :)

“Would Certainly Stay At La Conchiglia Again When Visiting Rome”

La Conchiglia is a smaller, more personable hotel located on the beach within close proximity to Rome's main airport. Shuttle service to the train station or airport is reliable but costs 10 Euro. Small, comfortable lobby equiped with a piano and restraunt. The rooms are very nice with a very interesting modern decor and absolutely the best shower I encountered on my trip.

“Not close to airport”

“excellent hotel, fair restaurant only”

Stayed here September and October, before and after a cruise vacation - rooms are contemporary, very clean and comfortable. As there were no restaurants in the area (end of season closings) we ate in the hotel restaurant. Food is very basic, not a lot of choice and quite expensive. Would not hesitate to recommend the hotel, but suggest going into town for meals, other than breakfast. Breakfast is buffet style and very adequate.

Area recommendations
The hotel area is across the street from a beautiful beach, which is convenient for those who like beaches....but only in the summer time because at the end of the season everything in this area closes. The downtown is very interesting, lots of choices for restaurants and very clean and welcoming.
Getting around
A car is necessary to travel downtown, but taxis may be available. There is no shopping or nightlife or restaurants close enough to walk to from the hotel.
Outdoors or beach
Wonderful beach - only 'in season'.

“Pleasantly Surpised”

We stayed here prior to our flight out of Rome. Fregene is a beach community and the hotel has access to one of the beaches (we didn't use). Hotel staff was very helpful and even let us print boarding passes from their computer. Our rooms had the best showers in Italy, we think..huge with a big rain shower head in the center and a great hand held shower head as well. The shower floor were somewhat stained with what could be mold and that's why I didn't rate the cleanliness of our room higher. Dinner at the hotel was very good as was a generous breakfast buffet the next morning. The hotel is about 15 mins. from the airport and you don't enter from the same direction as if coming from Rome, so if you are returning a car, you will need to research the best route and watch for those elusive signs. We were very happy with our choice of this hotel and its location.

“I am impressed”

I stayed at a hotel for several nights and was really surprised with the new renovated room and service quality for a price I paid. The hotel staff was extremely handfull and promptly responded to my questions via emails. The hotel location is prime - two blocks away from the city center. I would definitely recommend my room to stay at a hotel - it looks exactly as it at Expedia pictures.

“Very Enjoyable Stay”

Stayed here for 2 nights to relax by the beach before going back to US. Cab fare was less than I expected from the Vatican area, EURO65 about a 45 minute drive, hotel in Rome called the taxi & got the rate! Maybe more if you do it yourself! Couldnt be happier, ate at the hotel one night food was good. Better though walked to the main street about 300 yards from the hotel & ate in a family Italian restuarant, food & wine was cheap & excellent. Beach club across from the hotel was nice as well ate lunch there.

Do the Vatican all day guided tour worth the money!

“extremely happy”

excellent hotel, tremendous service, pick up can be arranged with the hotel. excellent guidance on navigating to rome by rail and return.

Area recommendations
i would recommend staaying at la conchglia if you want to get away from the hustle, bustle and noise of rome, but be a 30 minute rail ride to all the excitement. and then there is the beach; fun, sun, rest and relaxation.

“Not bad if you know what to expect”

The hotel is not exactly close to the airport, so if the shuttle isn't available to pick you up, make sure you catch the right cab. The Rome cab drivers evidently don't like to and will charge more to drive here. There are supposedly other cabs that drive to Fiumicino. Fortunately the lady at the front desk was extremely helpful and actually paid our cab driver the difference from what it should have cost and what he was asking. It's a nice hotel, but older, with lots of mature vegetation. It's close to the beach with a couple restaurants nearby. Not somewhere I'd want to spend my whole vacation, but not bad for overnight on the way home. The helpful staff really made this stay much better than it might have been.

Getting around
Walk! If you can't or don't want to walk, take a cab, but be clear up front how much you expect to pay to get where you're going, and make sure they use the meter.

“Nice roomy hotel much cheaper than staying in Rome”

This hotel is a great choice as an economical alternative to staying in Rome. Plus, you don’t have to drag your luggage onto the trains and through Rome. The room is large with modern European décor and has a neat if unorthodox glass bathroom. The staff is fluent in English and quite willing to assist American guests. It isn’t as close to the airport or the train station as I thought it was, but the hotel offers a shuttle service for 10 Euros per ride, which is quite cheap compared to a taxi at 30 Euros. I can’t comment on the restaurant as I ate in Rome before returning to the hotel, but the free continental breakfast was quite nice.
