“Great getaway”
We had a great time on Plantation Island. This hotel is excellent for families with kids. It feels very safe and quiet even when hotel is fully occupied there is always a peaceful place to relax on the beach. Snorkeling is great right off the shore and sandbank is even better. There are small things that the resort could improve on mostly with the state of the rooms but nothing major. My daughter (11) enjoyed some of the Coconut club activities, loved kayaking and snorkeling and said this was the best vacation we ever had!
“Five memorable relaxing days....”
Our December 12-17 vacation was "superb." We debated whether to stay at one of the resorts on Viti Levu where the Nadi airport is located or on one of the numerous outer island resort options. We are elated that we opted for one of the outer islands due to the truer island experience and better (i.e. more sunshine/less rain) than we would have experienced on Viti Levu. Special (initial vacation saving) resort staff services included coordinating a private (albeit more expensive) boat transfer from the airport to the resort when our flight delay caused us to miss the last transfer of the day. And while there were only 3 couples arriving on the special transfer, the staff were out at the dock in the dark welcoming us with guitar and song to receive us and our luggage and drive us to the resort lobby for check-in. Our Studio Garden Bure in the 300 area was spacious and clean with a view of the bay from our front porch separated only by about 100 feet of palm and coconut trees many with open/available hammocks strung between them.
“Island Getaway”
Plantation Island Resort is definitely a family friendly resort. Tons of kids running around but us honeymooners didn't seem to notice. There's so much space on the island and always a free, quiet beach spot to be found. And every view was idyllic. The only down side was the food. Not impressed by any of the food on the island...and I think a grilled cheese sandwich is pretty hard to get wrong! All in all, we'd definitely go back...with some groceries!
“Great for families”
We'd recommend the Plantation Island Resort especially for families. Our children loved the pools, snorkelling and kayaks. It was wonderful swimming in crystal clear warm water. Good spacious room with fridge and good selection of food at the restaurant. Customer service could be improved - some service was slow and not all the staff looked genuinely happy. Take a travel sink plug, they seem rare in Fiji! Great place to unwind and relax in a beautiful setting with lots of activities.
“A great holiday plenty to see and do very relaxing”
The hotel experience was great. I would recommend and suggest that the management at Plantation Island invest in a better range of towels and pillows. The towels and pillows provided to us in our room were not what you would expect. The towels did not absorb water when wipping oneself and the pillows were flat. Aside from this, the Island and activites available were great and the overall experiencing very pleasing.
“Plantation Island Resort - April 2012”
This holiday was all about the kids being busy, entertained and having fun and allowing us to join in but also relax at the same time and the resort and facilities totally achieved all of that. Recently hit by storms and floods the resort was undergoing maintenance but that was all well managed and we were not affected by that in any way. There are four close places to eat, buffet in the main area for all 3 meal times, and 3 other a la carte restaurants, incl one at the adult only resort, Lomani. No complaints about the food apart from personal taste, e.g. not quite cooked the way liked, and definitely catered for most tastes, esp the kids. Couple of things that we were not aware of before going: 1) no cash transactions in the resort (only at Anandas shop). All food, drinks, activities were either booked to room or charged to the a cash card which you get from reception. By chance, we took loads of cash which we put on this card & avoided the 3-4% surcharge on the credit card bill at the end of the week. Receipts from purchases showed rolling card balance. Although we thought it was a really good system, the system wasn't always working which was a bit frustrating. 2) Wifi access - you can buy it at $35FJD for 24hours, other time options available. However, I was told, while there, that a Vodafone t-stick works great for about $15 a week for 1GB data but you have to buy from mainland...can't confirm this personally tho' All-in-all we all had a really good time Thanks PIR
“Everything with a side of mash”
This resort could be so much more enjoyable if they could just cook some edible food! We chose not to take the meal plan but found ordering from the 'menu' consisted of them taking whatever was on the buffet and putting it on a plate with a side of mashed potato. Everything comes with a side of mashed potato on plantation island. Because we were not on the meal plan, we were largely ignored at the restaurant, found it difficult to place an order, and then had to wait up to 45 minutes for something that looked like it came from the buffet, was almost cold (like the buffett) and included a side of mashed potato. We spoke to a number of other quests who also complained of the food so I don't think we were being particularly picky. There are thankfully other resorts on the island to dine at, but if you are on a budget, take plenty of snacks to eat pre-dinner! Our stay was quite enjoyable but I would not stay here again because of the standard of food.
“Plantation Island Resort, Fiji”
Fantastic for families, very affordable. Resort is tired, however the staff are nothing but fantastic. Kids Club is great, out little man loved it.
“Great place to go and relax”
Resort is in a fantastic location. Actual rooms are old and getting a very tired. But - they are clear. Great place to go and relax. The food is a bit average. But, there are other options in the general area.
“Choose somewhere else”
This was my 4th trip to Fiji. I went for my sisters wedding on Plantation Island. The little touches I have had at every other resort were missing at Plantation Island. At other resorts I have found staff to be amazingly friendly but at plantation they could best be described as surly. The room had a heatpump and ceiling fans but they weren't effective. During the day the temperature in the room was reading 29 degrees celcius. The lowest I saw it was 25 degrees at 3am in the morning. The remote for the heatpump didnt work so maintenance took it away and brought it back still not working but said it was set on the coldest it would go anyway. They tell you on arrival that the bar, shops etc don't except cash. A few of us were sharing a quad Buree and paying our own way so we used their cash card system (you put money on it and then use it like a cashflow card). Using this for meals staff acted like it was a real hassle, they had to take the card away to charge it and bring it back later. The cards had no markings so it was always disconcerting when a few of us were using them whether we would get the right card back. My father used his credit card to put money on the cash card and was charged a 10% surcharge. My sister did a prepaid package incl. meals and had to produce a seperate voucher for every person each meal. The package included free meals for 2 kids but then they were told the kids had to eat at a seperate time and a different menu than the adults.
