“Worth going back to”
The first room was rather small, but it was very comfortable. The only real complaint I had was the dumping of bottles into the dumpster below my window at all hours of the night. When I spoke to hotel management, they seemed very concerned. I went back at the end of the week and stayed in a larger room. I heard bottles being dumped twice during the night, once after I called the front desk. Otherwise, a great place to stay, very friendly and helpful staff, great location to shop and see the attractions.
“A great hotel in a great location!”
Couldnt have asked for more!!! A hotel with great facilities in a great location, anybody staying in Edinburgh must stay here!!
“Exceptional comfort and service”
The service at this hotel is brilliant. The staff couldn't do enough for us and we were given service with a smile. The room was on the small side but the comfort of the bed, tasteful decor, very tasty and well presented food in the restaurant and attention to detail overall made our experience a very enjoyable one.We stayed on the night of the hotel's opening party and were very impressed with how quiet the room was.
“Great hotel”
Great location. We took the train to Edinburgh from London, the hotel was about 5 minutes walk of the train station. The room was very comfortable and roomy. The shower head was excellent.
“Perfect city centre base”
Just what we needed. Very comfortable bed in spacious room with stylish modern decor 30m from the west end of Princes Street. Lively modern bar downstairs but sound insulation good so could not hear it.
“Luxe Edinburgh!”
I stayed at this hotel in August 2006 - a busy time for Edinburgh during the huge Fringe Festival - it had a hip, funky boutique vibe without being intimidating. I travel a lot and I feel that this was one of the nicest rooms I have stayed in - luxurious fittings, spotlessly clean and every detail catered for, right down to the Molton Brown bath products. It is a little on the pricey side but the quality is 100% worth it. The location is brilliant, everything's within walking distance, particularly the castle and major galleries. Edinburgh is a lovely city, you can walk everywhere providing it's not pouring and The Hudson is a great place to base yourself. I have also found Expedia to be a very reliable website and I find the customer reviews spot on - that's how I discovered this treasure of a hotel!
“Small and comfortable.”
This hotel has recently been remodeled, with new bathrooms, and comfortable rooms. It was convenient to restaurants and the Royal Mile. There are only around 30 rooms. It had a nice bar downstairs with food service. The rates were very attractive too. There is no air conditioning, so it could be an issue if there is ever any hot weather in Edinburgh!
“Easter Treat”
Room was great, and the bed was huge! Too many pillows but great for lounging. Was concerned about noise of club below after reading other reviews, but our room was 3rd floor and street facing so absolutely no noise problems. Location is good, just around the corner from shopping on Princes St and not too far to walk to Royal Mile and Castle etc. The bar is good too, always buzzing so its perfect for a quick drink on your way out.
“Would go back (if only there weren't so many other places to see!)”
Brilliantly central and full of very helpful and friendly staff. The issues that we did raise with them were dealt with swiftly and efficiently (a door that did not "run" correctly and lack of shower caps - so nothing earth shattering!). Even the club that we were warned about didn't cause any disturbance - and we were on the floor above! The only thing we would have liked was wider access to radio as only very limited stations were provided via their entertainment centre!
“excellent find”
This was one of the best hotels we've stayed at. Our room had a warm contemporary decor, a very comfortable bed that wasn't stingy with the pillows, and an extra large bathroom. The location was perfect. Close to the coach stop for the airport and a 10-15 minute walk to the train station. The only negative things to say are that there was a small window that was too high to see out of (i like to have a view) and the shower was not designed to keep the water from spraying all over the bathroom. But those are small things, I would definately stay here again.
