"The hotel is a bit old. It's great if you're looking to stay in a property with a historical aspect. Check-in was troubling. I don't recall on the Hotel's description here on Expedia or on their own website that the deposit was $400 up front. I stayed for 6 days so that should have been around $170. "This was my first time staying here. It is such a pretty hotel. The rooms have fireplaces, beautiful courtyard and a great bar. Walking distance to all the shops, Petco park, restaurants and gas lamp. The only thing that Expedia doesn’t share are the extra fees you have to pay when you get there. Tourist fee, amenities fee and totaled to an extra $65 after the regular tax and room fees. "

"The highlight of this place for us was the location - a very easy 5 minute walk to old town, and also Macy’s in the other direction. The room size is fine and as expected. There was a fridge and microwave which was a bonus we were not expecting. The air con worked well. Shower temperature and pressure were good. On the down side, the bathroom had a strong urine smell but since you couldn’t smell it in the main room, we didn’t bother reporting it as we had already made ourselves comfortable....

It has character by the bucketload and you couldn’t ask for a better location - right on the doorstep of the historic quarter.
