“Lovely hotel if you are Italian or French”

Fanstastic food, lovely beach and pool, nice basic accommodation. Unfortunately we were the only English couple staying at the resort and no one else spoke english, not even the staff, we had to rely on hand signals and odd words to get by. All the literture was in Italian and French. We did have a phrase book but wasn't confident to say more than hello and thank you. The drinks at the bar were very expensive, so we made the most of the complimentary wine with the meal.
