“Good value for money, Always stay there”

Very convenient location for me. Close to airport without the traffic volume of Cebu. Very good customer service throughout the hotel. They remembered me after 6 months. The fifties club on the second floor is good value with good entertainment and great service. Great clean swimming pool. You can get all things at the Grand Mall just down the road. The Jungle restaurant is a great place to visit ( down past Marigondon) great entertainment and foreigner food and cheap. Taxis are very cheap. About 150 pesos to SM Mall or 60 pesos to Grand mall.

Area recommendations
A visit to the Jungle restaurant is recommended. SM mall has everything. Bohol island is worth a visit...not so crowded.

“value for money”

The room was good, however, required a bit of maintenance. It appears it was a great hotel when built but lacks in up to date maintenance in all areas but acceptable. The room we stayed in on the 5th floor of the main street was quite noisy with traffic noise all day and night and with the occasional slaughtering of piglets just below our balcony . The breakfast was basically the same every day and quite bland. Ask for an omelet. A visit to the fifties club on the 3rd floor is worth it for food and drink. The staff were very obliging. The location is only 15 minutes drive from the airport with taxis and tricycles easily available. Good value for money.

Area recommendations
The Grand mall to the south had good shopping as was the SM mall across the bridge in Cebu city. When at the Grand mall make sure you go the the Mooon cafe (that's right with 3 Os) on the 2nd floor. Great value for money. Another great place is the Jungle restaurant. Keep an eye out for it as the taxi drivers are not sure where it is. It will be on your right when heading towards resorts near the water. At the beach at the end of the main road you can hire a catamaran with driver for the whole day for 2500 pesos and go to the white sands for snorkeling but be careful not to disembark at an island or it will cost you 200 pesos a person.

“Good hotel, loud vioces and slamming doors kept waking me during the night”

This was my second time visiting this hotel this year, two weeks in July 2010 very peaceful and quit, great experience. Two weeks in November 2010 The staff very nice, difficult time sleeping loud voices and slamming doors during the night. ( Noisey neighbors)

“Very Nice”

It was a wonderfull experience. I loved the service. Very friendly staff. My only dissapointment has nothing to do with hotel. It is definatly worth the price. I wish I would have gotten a hotel on the beach- that was my fault- not the hotel Crown Regency. The Beach is no where around-- but if thats not important to you, The Crown Regency is a great place to stay.

“The northwest or southwest corners would be the best rooms to get!”

The hotel was well located for my needs. The room was great and clean. I only wish they supplied more utensils for their kitchen, (silverware, plates, pots, pans, knives, utensils are not supplied), i got this room for the kitchen so i could cook for myself and save some money on food. They did supply a rice cooker and toaster oven. You do need to request the propane for the stove when you get there. The staff was great and very friendly and the doormen were awesome at getting cabs. The free breakfast was pretty good but if you get there later like any buffet style restaurant the food might be old, best if you get there first thing in the AM. One thing to watch for is the north side of the building is right next to a Lecheon place and although for 75% of my stay it was relatively quiet they got busy the last few days i was there and the squealing noise of them killing pigs at all times of the morning day and night can get really creepy and annoying. It is very loud and unsettling. If you've never heard it pigs don't die very easy and it can take up to 5 minutes for them to die and they have a deathly squeal the whole time. If i need to stay there again i will request the south side of the building. The view from the north side is nice though, great view of Mandaue city and Cebu city and both bridges, great sunrises. If you can live with occasional pig killing noise the north side is great. All-in-all it was a fantastic place to stay, great service and staff!! Great Price!

“Very nice”

I was very happy with the hotel and i would definitely stay again. The staff were extremely polite and did the best they could to make my visit enjoyable. Issue: My main issue and this is reflective of Asia. I prefer to bath with a washcloth. They dont have any. Also, they pipe the TV into the bathroom. There was no way to lower the volume. I also like to have a vent in the bathroom.

“It was ok.”

The first three nights were fine. Then the blackout hit, our airconditioning quit working. We tried to just passed the night since it was very late. The very next day we called the housekeeping to fix the air and it worked for a little bit then the power went out again. When the power came back the air broke one more time. We had no air for two nightsand it was uncomfortable, but the traffic noise and the barking dogs was a nuisance it kept us awake at night. The kitchen was not a big deal for us since we did not plan on cooking but if you plan on cooking make sure to ask for your propane tank, and kitchen utensils as soon as you check-in. We are not that spoiled that we just ride it all. The breakfast was good but if there were some continental breakfast aside from all Filipino buffet it would have been great since we were traveling with kids. Overall the hotel was nice, the staff are friendly but there are things we just have to accept and make adjustments.

I recommend doing the island hopping around Cebu, Bohol and neighboring islands it is pretty.

“Perfect as the first/last night when using Cebu Int. airport (Mctan) and includes free shuttle.”

Very happy with the averall service. I stayed in a suite, room #814 and negotiated a better price. I did enjoy the pool and breakfast bufee. The 50's restaurant wasn't that impressive and they had live, LOUD music!! Left and decided to order from room service!! The convenience store, open 24/7 was very expensive!! A 25 pesos beer in the grocery store was 40 pesos there. Bring clothes pins to be able to close the drapes under the A/C unit!! Next time, end of April, I will ask for a room facing the back of the hotel. I have e-mailed them a request for a "Long Stay Special Price" BUT still no response after now a week.

Area recommendations
I also stayed at the Holiday Plaza Hotel, F. Ramos St, Cebu and it is very convenient located in the hart of the Cebu City. Very "cost effective" and only 60 % of the Crown Regency. No pool but very nice, clean Breakfast Buffet and roof top restaurant. Here you can also get a "Long term Special Price" but 2 weeks is enough for me. PLEASE remember to do your money exchange in Money Exchange places. There is one close to this hotel in the Robinson Mall and also one on the same side as the hotel towards the same mall. You will save between 10 to 15 % compared to air ports and hotels. I made the mistake to exchange money here at "my bank" in Texas and lost about 20%!!
Getting around
I would never, ever rent a car in Cebu!! Most I ever paid was 200 pesos for an half an hour cab ride. BUT see that they turn on the meter!!! IF they don't, tell them that you want to get out!!
What to pack
Wet naps, clothes pins, clothes line, plastic pants hanger, washing soap ( I used to travel in Europe and North Americas "for living" and I only brought one carry on even for this 3 weeks trip." BUT I didn't bring any "Dress Clothes) grounded adapter for my lap top, extra battery for my camera and phone. I did bring an old, open phone and bought a Smart Bro SIM card. Calling Sweden and the US from Phils. was $2.29/min roaming through AT& T. I also bought a Wi-Fi USB wireless adapter (also Smart Bro) for less than 1,000 pesos plus 30 pesos/hour. Some hotels charges for using their Wi-Fi signal even if you have a built in modem (Holiday Plaza Hotel)!! They charged 100 pesos/hour.
Outdoors or beach
Visited the Blue Water Beach Hotel but didn't stay there due to lack of time and money. About twice as expensive as the Crown Regency Suites, Mactan Island. Next time, I do plan on staying at least one weekend there. There are a few different restaurants and pools. Very beautiful place and many of the locals go there and take photos of them self to "Show Off". I will contact them ahead of time and negotiate a better than official room price.
Other
Money and Money Exchange. Some banks requests the you have an account with them to be able to exchange money, like BDO. To be able to open up an account with them, you have to live there for a minimum of one year!! I got the best Exchange Rate at the "Yellow Money Exchange Places". They seems to have them in every mall. Ask for location at the hotel. I made mistake not to bring enough cash (I never do!! lol !!)so I had to use the ATM machines twice. In some of the ATMs, you can withdraw 5,000 pesos 5 times per day and in some only 4,000 pesos each time. Always go inside of the bank, if possible, and ask how much you can withdraw each time. Each time you use an ATM in Phils. they charge you $10, plus 3% PLUS 19.24 % yearly interest (Chase). Remember, this was my first but not last trip to The Philippines!! Learning all the time.

“WOW, What a Great place to stay”

We hightly recommend the Crown Regency Mactan hotel. Every aspect of our stay was superb. We enjoyed the "up to the door" taxi service and great breakfast buffet. Staff was extremely polite and helpful. The location was close to the main malls and beaches. Simply a terrific bargain!
