“If You Have to Be in Catania”
We decided to stay in Catania as we would be arriving at the airport there after three flights covering almost 18 hours and knew we would be beat. If I had it to do over, I probably would have spent the extra hour to drive south to Syracuse. Catania is a city that has been destroyed several times by Mt. Etna and by a tsunami. Visiting the town, you makes you wonder if we assume a deity whether or not he/she was trying to make a point. The hotel was very nice, good breakfast and very helpful staff. The town has some nice ruins (Roman amphitheater) and some very nice Baroque period buildings. The problem is that all of them are covered in graffiti.
“Hidden Gem in the City”
Hidden on a street which, if you get lost, has direction signs along the way to find the hotel. Abundant and delicious breakfast in a charming breakfast room. Wonderful staff. I would recommend this hotel to friends if they want a convenient walking location to all in city center Catania.
“Gem in Sicily”
One of the nicest hotels I've stayed in. Fabulous building. Better staff. Wasn't necessarily crazy about Catania, but if someone is going to Catania, they couldn't stay at a better hotel.
“Convenient location; small room”
Catania is not that pleasant of a place to visit. I have been to that city many times over the years, and it's the same as in the 1990-ies: garbage, run-down buildings, crime, grime and insane traffic. No wonder Sicilians express such disdain for Catania. "Il Principe Hotel" is a little gem in the crumbling down city center. It was my first time staying at this hotel, and it was not bad. The hotel is in a very good condition, but the room was a bit too small. Granted, the hotel is in the middle of a large city, in (arguably) Europe, so the "smallness" is to be expected. Overall, nice hotel - I would recommend it.
“Very well run place”

“The best!”
Outstanding service. Beautifully clean and smack in the middle of everything
“good small hotel”
Great small hotel in historic district. Staff was super competent and friendly. Definitely will go back if in Catania.
“Nice business hotel, friendly staff.”
My only real complaint was the internet was 5.50 euro a day and was sometimes flaky, but generally a fantastic stay and well worth the price. One of the best locations I've stayed at in relation to downtown Catania.
