"This hotel gets 5 stars in my book."
The hotel is a little slice of heaven, if you consider heaven to be a quiet little retreat that offers quality service, a gorgious pool and the nicest staff imaginable. I really like the fact that the size of the hotel was managable. It took only a couple of minutes to get anywhere on the grounds. It had all of the amenities without having to pack your lunch to take a trip to the pool, as with some of the larger, more spread out resorts. The rooms were modern, comfortable, however, a bit stark. All in all, it was a REAL find. :)

"The best resort ever"
I return every three months to this resort for one reason... The service! Everywhere I turn staff are ready to serve. Anything you can possibly imagine can be accomplished if you just ask. Carolina Paz the concierge can do anything you need. Vilma is also there to make sure you are as happy as possible. The club section is worth it and i enjoy the extra attention. Al of the restaurants are wonderful and the entertainment is lots of fun. I am now planning my June return.

"Very nice quiet place to relax"
We loved this hotel. They changed our room next day and upgraded for free to an ocean front room since it is our 25th anniversary! We had a wonderful experience with staff and the live jazz everyday at the lobby. Many choices of restaurants to use and with the advantage of being able to use all the facilities of next door Royal Solaris it was a great vacation to remember forever. They gave us Lobster dinner for one night and delicious food everyday at the buffet. I would highly recommend this hotel.

This place is really nice. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and I highly recommend this resort. The Spa was absolutely amazing! I've never been to anything like it. My wife works at a high-end Spa in our home town and even she was blown away by how amazing it was!

"Very Nice"
Our reservation was messed up and The Royal Solaris only had us down for 1 room even though I had booked 2. They were full so they sent us over to the GR Solaris. The hotel was very clean, pool was great, staff was very nice. Rooms were nice, housekeeping was fabulous. We were never able to get a reservation for the restaurant (filled up very quickly so would recommend making the reservations as soon as you check in) so we ate at the buffets. The wait staff was excellent. The food was good. I am picky so I didn't try much (stuck to what I know) and it was good. Bar staff was great.

"Excellent value"
Staff are terrific, hotel is beautiful, grounds very accommodating for couples and young families alike. Enough space for kids to splash and adults to relax. Adults-only pool, recreational pools, and a toddler pool/playground all nicely separated. Beach very inviting, and breakfast brunch a daily highlight. Very international guests, some with children. Ocean view balconies a huge plus. Resort just secluded enough, with plenty of canopied chairs and excellent service pool-side or on the beach. Great value and a relaxing family holiday.

    Where to stay in Cancun?

    Step back in time

Famed for its ancient origins as much as its current-day bustle, Cancun's Mayan Ruins take in striking architecture, spectacular art, and culturally diverse structures. Between the 1980s and the present, Cancun has transformed itself from a jungle village into a diverse holiday resort comprising ancient relics and sandy beaches, and providing a haven for water sports fanatics and beach holidaymakers alike. Buttressing south-east Mexico's coastline, this part of the Yucatan Peninsula contrasts Caribbean-facing luxury hotels with bars and restaurants overlooking the romantic Nichupte Lagoon.

Ancient Mayan Cancun has more than left its mark on the modern incarnation of the city - most obviously in the form of Chichen Itza, the cultural center of Cancun. The Kukulkan Pyramid forms a striking figurehead, standing at a height of over 75 feet as part of the ancient mysterious city. It's also worth spending some time at the archaeological site so that you can experience the less obvious points of attraction, such as the Cenotes (sinkholes), an ideal setting for a solid day's freshwater swimming.

    Interact with nature

Enjoy views of the Cancun jungles with some horseback riding --it's the freest way to explore the matchless destination of Cancun, a truly different taste of the Mexican way of life. And why not swim with dolphins? You can be a part of their aquatic world, and experience their serenity and benevolence face-to-face. And if that's still not enough then why not visit Xcaret, an ancient Mayan village which now comprises an underground river, aquarium, and aviary? It's a truly unique experience - an otherworldly paradise.

If thinking outside the box is your thing, spend some time in Tulum; set atop a cliff overlooking the Caribbean, Tulum is home to Xel-Ha, the world's largest natural aquarium. Tulum's structures date back more than seven centuries, and the 40-foot high El Castillo pyramid is the aesthetic focus.

    Regional specialities

Downtown Cancun gives a taste of the local way of life with a plethora of regional specialities ready and waiting. Be it indigenous cuisine, live music, or local handicrafts you're after, it's all there; it's a taste of the true Mexicana to contrast with the Americanized city center.

Accommodation can mainly be found in the famous Zone Hotelera, an area shaped like a '7' featuring bridges connecting to the mainland. Rough beaches envelop the vertical side of the '7', while the horizontal end provides a tropical paradise for surfers and sun-seekers alike. The 14-mile beach stretch is where the city comes alive at night; the vast selection of bars and clubs means there is bound to be one to suit your taste. The area undertakes the great feat of transforming itself from the world's second largest coral reef during the daytime to a lively party city at night.
