“Needs update!!”

The hotel is old and shows it. The only good thing was that our room was clean. The air conditioning did not cool our room.

“wouldn,t recommend it”

Although the hotel was very clean and staff friendly and helpful, I found the bed so hard and had great difficulty sleeping. China was the last time I came across such a firm mattress. This wasn't helped by the constant street noise penetrating the single glazed windows all night, every night! There was also a large gap under the door which let in a lot of light from the hallway all night. We rolled up a spare blanket each night to block this. It was a shame, as the location was excellent and we couldn't fault the staff.

“Better Hotels Nearby”

This hotel is rated 4 1/2 stars but would be barely 3 star. Its location is good and the staff extremely helpful but it is tired and noisy. We had to be moved due to the lift noise which seems to reverberate throughout the hotel. There are plenty of other hotels nearby that would be better than this one.

“Great value and location”

Very good value compared with the expensive hotels nearby. Only downside was the presence of some loose hair and used soap in the shower/bath on our arrival. Other than that, no problems.

“Great hotel location!”

Will go back..hotel is conveniently located..staff extremely helpful especially the tour desk. Hotel is along the water promenade, cafes, outdoor market & shops... We had a good size room with balcony view of the water...as promised in the website. Hotel quite old but remodeled, clean and comfortable.

“GREAT 2ND VISIT TO TOP CAIRNS HOTEL”

After booking through Expedia at the Pacific International previously I was not interested in considering any other hotel in Cairns. The location is fantastic, so close to everything. The staff are so friendly and happy (a nice change to other hotels I have stayed in). When I rang the desk to ask for assistance, there was someone there within minutes and ready to help. The pool was so inviting and we met some lovely people and had a long chat. The balconies are something you don't get at the hotels they are building these days and it's so nice to be able to sit outside in the fresh air and take in the fabulous views. The water pressure in the shower was perfect (some places you only get a trickle) and the complimentary shampoos and lotions have a lovely smell. The bed was so very comfortable and we had a perfect nights sleep. Thank you to the staff for waking up us on time so we had plenty of time to get to the airport in time for the flight. The hotel should be very proud of their staff, they really look after their guests.

Area recommendations
My teenage grandson and I had a fabulous time at the golf driving range at Smithfield. Fabulous value for money and the staff were helpful and friendly.

“CAIRNS NO. 1 - FRIENDLY, AFFORDABLE AND VERY COMFORTABLE”

The staff were very friendly and welcomed us with a big smile. Our reservation was ready and all we had to do was sign in and we were on our way to our room. I found out that this is a family owned hotel and this shows as the service by all the staff was very personal and friendly. The pool was a welcome relief in this hot and humid time of the year - very clean and refreshing. There a lots of artefacts from around the Pacific islands and some great bits of memorabilia in glass cases. There is also a large anchor beside the front driveway. The room was very clean, and we had views from the balcony up the esplanade and the boats moored in the marina. The lights of the city at night were lovely to look at. Our beds were very comfortable and the airconditioning set at just the right temperature for a peaceful nights sleep. Breakfast included a great selection of both hot and cold food, very fresh and tasty. Michael was very attentive, thank you. I would definitely stay here again. Best location right on the esplanade and close to all the shops.

Area recommendations
You must visit the reef. We went to Michaelmas Cay with Passions of Paradise and we had a fabulous day. The crew are fantastic - Simon is quite the magician.
Dining
While at the Pacific we dined at Bushfire Flame Grill and had the Brazilian BBQ churasco. What a feast! We enjoyed so many different meats and seafood and literally rolled out of the restaurant up to our room. Oh, yes, the dessert was so delicious - we had a chocolate fondue with fruit and cake and ice cream, yummmmm. Great value and you definitely don't leave this restaurant hungry. A lot of people shy away from eating at a hotel restaurant but not this one, if you enjoy your food then you have to go to Bushfire.

“An Oasis!”

I have stayed in a lot of hotels in recent weeks having just driven across Australia, and this was definitely the best value for money. The service was friendly and efficient, the room was extremely clean, comfortable and spacious, and all of the amenities worked! We had a great view from our verandah, but heh, who spends all their time in the hotel room? The very best part of the Pacific International is it's location. Everything is on it's doorstep - the waterfront, the lagoon, the casino, the marina, boats that take you to the Reef, the shops, restaurants (although the PI has a pretty good Argentinean grill) ... all in all a very pleasant hotel in a five-star location without the five-star price!

“I could be so much better.”

I would not stay here again. The location was handy to everything and the resturant was pretty good. The downside was the 1 1/2 hour wait for room service and when we complained we were given complementary glasse's of ice water, the room was noisy due to being next to the elevators and had the exhaust fan for the resturant kitchen below us, the bed was very hard, the pillows was very thin and there was no others available and there were holes in the curtains which made it hard to sleep in. I have never complained about anywhere i have stayed and i dont enjoy it but i really couldnt help myself with this place.

“Not the newest hotel in Cairns, but a perfect stay.”

I stayed one night (May 2009). Check-in was smooth. Room was clean. Everything in perfect working order. Bed was comfortable. All rooms have balconies.
