“Rooms were very quiet”

The food wasn't overly impressive. I have eaten far better meals for half the price

“Solid hotel in Brisbane”

Very pleased with the hotel. The staff was professional and the rooms and public areas were clean and updated. The location is good, but a little of a walk to the more popular wharf's on the river. Would definitely recommend.

Area recommendations
The city is great and a there are a lot of places to eat, especially along the water at the wharfs. In the city, the South Bank area is a place to visit. Also, ask your hotel about the free walking tours of the city. Brisbane is also a great location to take some day trips, be sure to look in Moreton Island and Bryon Bay. Bryon Bay is a little more than an hour long drive from the center of the city and one of the most beautiful places we saw in Australia.

“some what dissapointed”

No upgrade as promised very poor service in dining area. Not made aware of certain offers. Room backed onto lifts. No sleep between 8pm and 2am on a Friday night. Worst value seafood buffet ever experienced. All staff in reception and associated areas excellent. Staff in bar and restaurant not very proffessional .

Area recommendations
Good location easy walk to city centre.
Getting around
very easy to get around although a bit hard to find first time .Really centrally located with good views.

“"Not Impressed"”

My room was very much dirty!!! They no change the sheets!! The sheets were with make up of somebody else’s... We pay for internet and Sunday it doesn't work, they have no support during the weekends (for us it was Monday in Brazil and we needed to work). The good thing it is the location, extremely well located, only this.

“Recommend if you dont mind this place looked like it is from last century”

I was firstly surprised with the narrow red door for my room. And then I was shocked by the size of the room. I would say the smallest 4 star hotel room I've ever stayed. Bed was comfortable, however, the toilet looks soooo 80s. This place looked more like a motel room, or it needs a renovation. Well, the only reason why I recommend this place is because of the location. Stone throw to most of the important place in the city. Myself would not stay in this place next time. For the same price I could definately find a better hotel.

“Clean but cheerless”

This hotel has had a refurbishment and the room was clean and had good desk space and a comfortable arm chair. The bathroom was very basic but, again, clean, if a little cheerless. I would not recommend this hotel, though. The staff were awful and the overall atmosphere is dismal. Arriving back on a Friday night from the ballet, we stopped by the lounge for a glass of wine only to be told they decided to close because they weren't busy. No apology. Check-out was a disaster with the girl behind the counter totally clueless. We paid for our room service bill (the wine which we couldn't get in the lounge) with cash and she had to ask someone how much change we should receive, all the while sucking on the ends of her hair. They also gave varying responses on how we retrieve the car from the carpark and gave us amounts ranging from $20 to $40 (they finally decided it was $20). Through all this there was not one smile and no one asked if we enjoyed our stay. There are better, more friendly places to stay in Brisbane than the Mercure.

Area recommendations
My two favourite hotels in Brisbane are the Hilton and the Marriott; both are excellent. The Hilton is right in the middle of the Queen Street mall which is great for shopping and business. The Marriott is right on the river and Eagle Street pier which is great for restaurants, walking, and also close to the Central Business District. Southbank on the other side of the river is lovely with a great park, lots of restaurants and pubs, and right next to the Queensland Performing Arts Centre and museums. The Mantra hotel is a good choice there; while it is not quite the standard of the Marriott or Hilton, the rooms are modern, comfortable and clean, and the staff welcoming and friendly.

“a great choice”

This was an excellent choice of hotel for it's convenient location - we spent a wonderful day at the galleries and were within easy walking distance of shopping and public transport. Comfort and service were also very good.

“Goofd location”

Good location, finding it by car can be an issue. Bathroom could do with an update but room good otherwise.
