“Hotel near the sea”
We have a family of 5 and were very happy we could comfortably fit. Adequate kitchenette. Great location. About a 2 minute walk to the ocean. Loved it and would go back if I was in France.
“Great place to stay, but...”
The hotel itself is really nice, is very much like having your own little apartment near the beach. What more could you ask for? Better reception hours, that's what. We arrived, on foot mind you, at 1:30pm on a Sunday afternoon. We were greeted by a code-locked gate and a sign that indicated the reception would not be open until 4pm (!) Funny and lucky enough for us, one of the other guests gave us the code for the gate so that we could at least wait in the parking lot, because the hotel lobby is also locked, of course. Everything else was fine, though, so I suppose as long as you know before you go, all is well. One other note: we would not have had to arrive by foot, except that there are no buses for the city on Sundays. This, too, would have been very nice to know (obviously not the hotel's issue, but is relevant for its customers)!
“Victoria Garden - La Ciotat”
Fantastic appart'hotel with clean, very well catered, spacious room (complete with furnished kitchen including induction hob, fridge and a dish washer). This is excatly what you need when travelling as a family. This was our second stay there. We are a family of five (2 adults, an 18 yr old girl and two boys 12 and 14); we have been delighted. The place is very quiet with great a view on the swimming pool and a secure car park. Everything in the appartment is conveniently designed and works!!
“Lovely, peaceful location and great value”
When we arrived we were unable to get into the Appartment complex as there is a security code and the reception staff don't work 12 - 4pm! Eventually another holiday maker let us in and we chilled by the pool until the reception staff arrived. This is worth bearing in mind when planning your arrival times etc. Appartment was lovely and clean with Ikea furniture. We're a couple in our 30s and felt the other appartments were mainly families which was fine, apart from this meant the pool was v busy with kids! Saying that, the pool was a good size. The nearest shop is a good 20 minute walk (boulangerie, epicerie). The beach is nice but rocky (smooth rocks) with not much shade so we hung out by the pool mostly. There were 3 or 4 good restaurants near by and we walked into La Ciotat a couple of nights (about an hour's walk) and got a cab to Cassis another night which is fab and the place to buy gifts etc. It was great value and a lovely location really where the French go on holiday which was great!
“La Ciotat”
Pleasant apartments with nice pool. Some road noise outside but rooms very quiet. Directions could be improved: turn right on the slip road for Arene Cross then after approx 300m turn left and pass under the main road. Take first right and apartments are on the left.
“too far from the city”
the problem with this hotel is that it s situated far from the city and it took us an hour and 100 euros to get it when we got there we need a car to get to the nearest beache and the store and rental car are extremely expansive you have to pay for everything from soap to landery detergent and cleaninig suppllies no complimentary coffee or teas or anything for that matter not going there again
“Good value! Clean and spacious room.”
good value for the money, especially for young family. Good alternative to neighbourhood Marseille hotels.
“Apartments”
The hotel was definitely based on normal holiday apartments- it was clean functional and reasonably well equiped. We stayed in the 4 bed version which meant the settee converted into two of the beds- not good is it is for kids. The pool was very clean and not much used. It seemed to be used by the Continentals as an overnight rather than a base. You will need a car to get around - but avoid Marseille for driving !!! The only draw backs with the aprtments were a noisy dual carriageway within 100m and no supermarket within walking distance, although there was a bakers and butcher/greengrocers 10 minute walk away. Three resturants within walking distance but mainly serving pizza. Make sure you visit Cassis a little jewel about 8 miles away All in all a goodbase but would not rush back
