“Smart choice near Gare de Lyon.”
We stayed in this hotel just one night and chose it due to its proximity to the Gare de Lyon. The service was friendly, efficient and they spoke English. The hotel is on the older side, but that actually gave it some charm. Our room was clean and had a great window overlooking the street. The price wasn't bad for Paris and this gave us a chance to explore the 12th arrondissement a bit.
“Pleasant hotel with a view!”
I was pleasantly surprised by the conditions in the hotel, my room was spacious, clean, and had a balcony view of the port. Convenient location for many restaurants, the metro, and tourist options. The staff at the desk were very helpful for a non-French speaking visitor, which I really appreciated.
“A Fine Place to Stay”
We had an overall very good experience @ this hotel. Room was spacious & well appointed. They should capitalize on how easy it is to get to their hotel on the Metro from the Railway station. Maxiumum 10 minutes and extremely easy. No need to take taxi from Rail Station.
“At Marseille's heart”
When arriving by plain, take the shuttle-bus (EUR 8,50), the leave every 20 minutes sharp. The ride is not bumpy or adventurous, it goes straight at 100 kmph to Central Station. There you buy a day-ticket or even better, 10 rides with the Public Transportation, take the subway to the hotel (2 stops), and see: you're there, at Marseille's heart and right at the hotel's entrance! The hotel, as mentioned above, has nice rooms. There is no real restaurant inside, there is a room where you can enjoy breakfast (at EUR 12,00), and also use a desktop-pc or your own wireless device to surf the internet. Beware that the desktop-pc still runs Firefox 2 and has no serious security software, so avoid entering personal information or banking. The wireless functions, but on my Linux netbook with the latest Firefox, I continuously got warnings about SSL and a wrong certificate when using the wireless connection. I you think EUR 12,00 is just too much for a limited breakfast, go out! From early in the morning till late at night, you'll find all kind of places where you can drink and eat. Don't be afraid to close you're cognition's and prejudices, and be spoiled by the French love of good food. There are numerous places where you have 3 nice servings for EUR 15,00, and let yourself be surprised.
“September in Provence”
Close to underground (very) and surface transport Easy walking distance to many restaurants. Windows that open eased airconditioning. On the other hand the rooms weree on the small side and a liittle run down..
“Not impressed”
American travelers will not receive common amenities. The rooms were very warm and air conditioning less than desirable. Request for ice was denied, not available. Electrical converter not available. Staff was quick to deny requests or help.
“Not great”
Hotel was old, dark. Our room was small but clean. One couple traveling with us got a large, beautiful room. Another couple had to change rooms 3 times because of non-functioning plumbing.
“The breakfast IS NOT free!”
Nice hotel with a very good location right near the harbor. Also, on weekends, the local merchants set up booths right in front of the hotel. Beware this, however: THE BREAKFAST IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE. When we checked in, the front desk stated... breakfast is served from so and so hours... giving the impression its free. The NEVER mentioned there was a charge for it. Also, they do not have prices mentioned anywhere except on the hotel board with 4 letters that no one would recognize as breakfast at 11 euro (even frenchman). Really, really sneaky. They know exactly what they're doing and we ran into someone there who thought also that the breakfast was free. Other than that, nice hotel. Also, the elevator only goes up 4 or 5 floors, so request one of those floors.
“First time in Marseille”
The location, the reception staff, cleanliness, the room were all very good. the buffet breakfast was also good value. Internet was available too. Very close to a Metro station.
“Nice, tight, great location”
Like in many Euoropean hotels there is no lobby per se, just the staircase and the elevator, with a small check-in desk near entry. There is a nice large breakfast room on the first floor where they also provide 24hrs wireless internet. The room was large and great overall, the only thing to be improved is the carpet needing some steam cleaning. Everything spotless otherwise. Very friendly and helpful personnel.
