“Would definitely go back - great experience”

This was exactly what we were looking for. Situated in the quieter location of Nusa Dua - away from busy Kuta. We couldn't speak highly enough of the staff - they were extremely helpful and friendly. The room was beautiful and clean and had everything that you would need. Breakfast had a huge assortment of food and was in a great location. Restaurants were Western prices, but cheaper food available within a km of hotel. Would definitely return.

“Spa price subjected to change”

Overall experience was quiet good but I have to mentioned our experience with Spa management .On first day I received Spa price list it in USD$ price and afterward in same day they billed us in Indonesian rupiah. Then I realized that rupiah price was 25% higher than USD$ so I questioned the Spa staff about and they replied that USD$ price list is not valid! We present the USD$ price list to convinced them that they are not allowed to raise their price while guests are already check in. So they finally accepted to bill us in the USD$ price.

Comment from the hotel's management
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with all of us. Please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused by the billing discrepancy. We appreciate your feedback as this helps us improve our standards and service delivery.

“Westin luxury, super friendly & welcoming!”

The hotel is absolutely excellent, staff are wonderful, the buffet breakfast is perfect to fuel you for a day of being lazy or adventurous. Facilities are great - great tours & information available. Beach is clean and there are minimal hassles. Nusa Dua is to the south & is segregated so be prepared to travel at least 1.5hrs to do any hiking or visiting of villages etc. If all you want is touristy beach stuff then staying in the area will meet all your holiday needs. Very relaxing, felt spoiled and well looked after. highly recommend, even if just for the last days of your holiday when you really just want to unwind.

Area recommendations
Um... i actually recommend travelling to Ubud and checking out that area! but in the Nusa Dua area you can visit the local Oleh-Oleh and score some excellent gifts, or get a bargain massage on the beach.
When to go
'winter', dry season. not too hot, not too humid, every day is perfect.
What to pack
obviously depends where you are staying, if in 4 star luxury, you can really cull on toiletries and indulge in pretty frocks etc. I found the most useful things to bring were my small over-the-shoulder bag, and a couple of light jackets for protection against the sun, evening breezes, and when modesty is required. If you are doing any physical activities such as cycling or climbing, bring appropriate attire. It is cold in the mountains! don't assume it's all 30+ degrees!
Shopping
When bargaining offer half of the asking price and go from there. be reasonable, Balinese are not trying to rip you off, they are very friendly and even help you with bargaining. no need for a hard nosed approach. If you prefer to get your gifts at a one stop shop so you can enjoy the rest of your holidays, get a local driver to take you to an Oleh-Oleh in the area (get a taxi/ driver so at least there is some money going into the local community). Tips: service charge included at restaurants so that's easy, but tip your driver's/ tour guys! rough guide, full day 150-200 000 IDR. the guide and driver will split it, if you just have one driver & no guide, still give the same amount. it's little money to most westerners. tip for the service you get, it's almost always excellent.
Outdoors or beach
cycling (tours or independently) are great for seeing the countryside and villages. Clim

“Family Suite -- Excellent layout, modern and clean!!!”

I travelled with my husband and 2 young kids to Bali in late April. We stayed in Intercontinental Hotel (Jimbaran Bay) for the first 3 nights and another 3 nights at Westin. I paid 50% more to stay in a suite at Intercontinental but our stay at Westin was much more enjoyable. The kids club at Westin has swing, trampoline, table games, slide and climbing net etc. The staff members are all very friendly and caring. Many different guided activities were also offered and my kids enjoyed their time there. The family suite is spacious. It is 2 connecting rooms with shared living area-- excellent layout and modern decoration. The resort is beautiful, well-maintained and the service is impeccable. It is also very convenient, with a small shopping mall "Bali Collection" nearby (5 mins ride) and you can dine in many different restaurants and buy souvenirs etc. When I stayed at Westin, I understood that there was some construction work ongoing as part of the hotel was closed. The work however did not affect our stay at all.

Events and shows
We went to Wuluwatu Cliff/temple to see the fire dance (kacat) show. It was OK but later found that Westin in fact offered a similar show at the hotel. It seems that it would be more comfortable and enjoyable if we watched the dance in the hotel. We also went to the "Rock Bar" at Ayana Hotel. It is so cool!!! My 2 young kids loved the cigar dessert very much! We also had spa treatments at Ayana, the so-called No1 Spa in the World. It was quite disappointing. I'll suggest one just go to the aqua pool in that Spa. The pool is worth for a visit, the other treatments (other than the treatments on the Rock) are in fact nothing special. We also went to see waterfall, elephant cave temple, rice terrace and Ubud..they are all beautiful and you could visit all of them with 6 hours or so by getting a chauffeur to drive you around,.

“Westin is good for a Nusa Dua 4-star experience, if that's what you want”

The Westin is in a line of big resort hotels along a strip of Nusa Dua beach. It's unlike a beach bungalow in Semanyuk or an arty pastoral boutique hotel in Ubud. It does have a well groomed beach path passing the other resorts, ending at the Bali Collection Mall, ten minutes walk south. If you plan lots of golf or tennis, have small children, don't mind missing the cool early morning pastoral paths of Ubud, or don't want easy access to the tourist bar zone bustle of Kuta, then one of the big Nusa Dua hotels may be for you. A $10 taxi ride takes you to Kuta for the "Bali bar" experience. Good surf is a also $10 ride a half hour south and parasailing etc a half hour north. The oldest of the big resorts, the Nusa Dua Hotel, is just north of the Westin and, when it is under half the cost, it is probably a better value. The Westin has more luxurious bedding and a much better buffet breakfast. The Laguna and Melia along the same strip are also OK, with the Westin winning on rooms, but marginally. If you are attending the Convention Center, it can be reached from the interior of the Westin, sometimes a major convenience. The menu at the Westin is expensive and just OK, aside from the very nice buffet breakfast. During our stay, the regular breakfast room closed for renovation. The beach cafe was a far superior location; definitely making it a 5-star breakfast. In the evening, we wandered the strip for dinner. There is more variety at lower cost at the Bali Collection Mall.

Area recommendations
A beach bungalow in Semanyuk is a different experience that young couples, families with teens etc may prefer. You can only enjoy an early morning walk through the pastoral paths of Ubud from one of the boutique hotels located there. Lots of people take a taxi to the Kuta bars from Nusa Dua.

“Family holiday at the Westin”

The hotel had very high standards, but was quite expensive. Meal and drinks were almost the same prices we'd pay in Australia. The heavenly beds were quite ordinary. We stayed at the Padma in Legian before and their beds a were much better. The rooms are quite small and the bathrooms even smaller. The toilet was a small cubicle you could not stretch your arms in. The rooms could definetly use remodelling. We booked a room for 2 adults and 2 children and ended up walking around beds in the room. But again, i cannot fault the staff, they were all very attentive and helpful at all times. The italian manager there is very friendly and would always come and check on us to make sure we were all happy. The hotel's spa was also quite expensive. We had a massage there and outside the hotel for a fraction of the price. The ones we had outside were better. Even hair braiding was cheaper at the beach bungalows. For dinner i would recommend the restaurants at the Bali Collection for variety or the restaurant at the hotel next door, the dishes are almost half the price. Nusa Dua is a place for relaxing, for shopping, i would recommend staying at Seminyak.
