“Wonderful Waiheke!”
Waiheke Island Resort offers a fabulous getaway from the city, on the beautiful Waiheke island. The staff were extremely polite and hospitable and made us feel right at home. Our room, the 'honeymoon sweet' was superb, with sea views, comfortable furniture and privacy, with highlights of a spa bath and a balcony. The staff were informative about the local area and keen to assist however they could. The dinner in the restaurant was excellent, and the prices reasonable. The staff informed us that they were in the process of renovating the reception, restaurant and pool area, but they are all presently pleasing in decor. Once finished, I'm sure it will be delightful. It's a great place to go to get away from it all for a couple of days. Not much to do but relax, walk to the beach and take in the beautiful surroundings.

“Needs some improvement but a great spot”
There was only myself and my boyfriend but we had a 3 bed chalet so lots of extra space! The chalet was number 2 and overlooked the beach and had a nice decking area. The chalet was fairly basic i.e. wood panelled walls, bathroom suite fairly old but everything was clean and it was a cosy atmosphere. We had a fridge, tea/coffee, hairdryer and TV. No fly screens on the windows which was a downside as we got mozzie bites through the night (and I take a bad reaction!). The staff were all very nice. However, the one girl working at breakfast kept saying that the conference groups had made a mess and it was taking her ages to get everything cleaned up - wasn't really what I wanted to hear. The breakfast was SO disappointing. We didn't have breakfast the first day, but we had the buffet on the 2nd morning. We got there 30mins before it closed and there was no food, we asked for eggs and got them but there were only a few sad looking pancakes in the tray, some streaky bacon. No tomatoes, no mushrooms. Cheeky to charge us $20 each! The water glasses were all streaked with dried water; I asked for a new glass but was told that they were all like that as they were waiting for some special cleaner to come in the post! The restaurant is tired and could do with a major overhaul. The resort is good and I’d go back but I’d go to Oneroa or Onetangi for breakfast.
