“Overall good hotel”

Hotel is great for those who want to be in the action and like to be at the casinos. Not really a family hotel.

“Fun Place To Stay In Auckland”

Skycity hotel is a vibrant, busy city hotel. As it is tied into an entertainment and conference centre the staff are well trained, friendly and keen that you are having a good stay. Bonuses are that there are numerous places to eat and it is in easy walking distance of ferries, buses and also the downtown Avis rental drop off. There is free 30 minutes of wi fi in the lobby.

“Buyer beware”

Great room, well appointed, clean, large, but.. very, very noisy. Our room opened onto a big terrace, which staff used to have a smoke during their breaks. They leaned on our window, playing loud rap music, singing, laughing, and talking loudly. They refused to go away. Called security at 12a.m. and 3 a.m., but as soon as security left, they were back. Staff at reception in the morning (we checked out) were not in the least bothered. A great hotel let down by it's staff.

“The location is good. That's all.”

Overall, the stay itself is not bad because not of the quality of the hotel but of the supplemental factors especially, the location, and the access to transportation because it is really close to a transportation HUB. If I was asked about the hotel by my friends, I would tell them "if your priority concern is a location of the hotel, I will recommend it". Considering the star value I had been told which was 4.5, it was not worth the star value. Since I actually believed the star value before going there and it was a primary determinant of deciding the place of our stay as the hotel, I should not have believed it. First of all, the service level was generally not high. Actually, the attitudes of receptionists and especially information center staffs were not welcome. I did not be able to see any sense of hospitality in them. Some of them seemed even arrogant. We decided not to use the information center immediately after the first use. Secondly, the condition of the hotel facilities and a room we used need mending. Surprisingly, we realized the drain pipe was leaking and there was a puddle underneath its sink. because of it. The toilet seat wobbled because of loose screws; it was really unstable. A door in the room where we stay was paint came off so on. Moreover, the security was a thing of my concern. I noticed some homeless strolling around, thus my family had to walk fast to pass them. However, it was really convenient due to the location.

“Great location”

We attended a conference at Skycity - this hotel is right there. Would recommend the local French Restaurant two blocks away "Pastis" Victoria St. - great ambiance, and even greater food. Overall we enjoyed staying here.

“Large hotel and feels like that, central city Auckland, good service.”

Location is great if you want central CBD. Hotel rooms are reasonably basic but provide everything you need. Good service. The hotel didn't have atmosphare for me, just a very big hotel combined with a casino.

“Improve your cleaning/maintenance”

My family and I stayed at SkyCity twice on a month long trip to NZ. First on arriving in Auckland when our room whilst dated was ok, the hotel location was good for us, cleaning perhaps could have been better. We ate at the Ming Court and liked the food and service. The hotel pool was welcome, if small. Reception was ok, but no offer of complementary papers. On chrecking out to head down to Wellington, we asked for a cab and were told the hotel limo service was the same price- not true cab $55 and limo $75 and limo did not have enough room for all our suitcases - so more expensive and ended up with a uitcase in the back seat! Return trip already booked. 6th Jan only one night before flying home. Room on second floor again. The bathroom was filthy- mould, dust, hair. Quite horrible but as one nigh could not be bothered complaining. Reception not sufficinetly manned and took 30 mins to get an internet code that worked! Not impressed. Conceige recommended another cab company to airport and only $30 so a bargain, but why so inconsistent?

“Not Impressed”

I was very disappointed with this hotel. A customer pushed in in front of us in the check-in queue and despite being obvious about it, and not excusing himself to us, the staff just ignored it and served him first. There was no shower cap in the bathroom, I do not like having a shower with a plastic bag on my head! This was not noticed until I was undressed. Bit late for a call downstairs. The shower door had what looked like rust on the bottom and the loo seat was wobbly. No impressed at all. The room was OK but there was no mirror over the desk so hair care had to be done standing up in the bathroom.
