Spa

Located on the ground floor, the 743 square metre Senses Spa comprises seven treatment rooms and offers a combination of ancient and modern therapies – from age-old Thai, Ayurvedic, and European massage techniques, to the latest in spa treatments. Open daily from mid-morning until late.

Signature Treatment – Traditional Thai Massage (1 hour, 30 minutes): NZ$180 (AU$162)

Thai massage is founded on the concept of invisible energy lines running through the body between critical acupressure points. Massaging these lines and points releases pressure, helps stimulate the body's healing mechanisms, and helps relieve pain. This session focuses on 10 main energy lines to help treat the whole body and internal organs. Energy points are pressed and general pressure is applied. Emphasis is placed on considerable muscle stretching.

Fee may not include tax and is subject to change without notice.

Signature Treatment – Thalgo's Indoceane Vital Relaxation (1 hour, 30 minutes): NZ$200 (AU$180)

This treatment features the Thalgo marine therapy range. A Sweet & Savoury body scrub is followed by a stress-relieving relaxation massage. The body is then enveloped in a silky wrap, before being caressed with Thalgo's Sublime Cream.

Fee may not include tax and is subject to change without notice.

Signature Treatment – Herbal Hot Compress (1 hour, 30 minutes): NZ$200 (AU$180)

A traditional Thai herbal therapy specifically designed to soothe muscle tension and stiffness. The session begins with the application of a warm herbal poultice containing a variety of therapeutic herbs and spices. The treatment concludes with a full body massage using specially selected herbal oils.

Fee may not include tax and is subject to change without notice.

Renewal Package – Mer & Sens Hot Volcanic Stones (3 hours): NZ$340 (AU$306)

Harnessing the healing power of gentle heat, small stones are placed on key energy points. This helps release muscle tension before the stones are used for a full body massage. The treatment includes a hot stone exfoliation, hot stone massage, and hot stone facial massage.

Fee may not include tax and is subject to change without notice.

Body Experience – Frigi-Thalgo (45 minutes): NZ$100 (AU$90)

The simple vaso-constricting and cooling effect of this treatment makes hot, tired legs feel lighter and refreshed. The skin feels firmer and smoother.

Fee may not include tax and is subject to change without notice.

The spa uses Thalgo skin care products.

“Very Good Auckland Hotel”

This hotel is well located next to Viaduct Harbour. Lots of good restaurants and water activities nearby. Convenient to shopping, gardens and sightseeing features. The staff is extremely professional and helpful. The rooms are clean and good sized as are the bathrooms. We had an evening flght so they held our bags for us after we checked out and when we got back later in the afternoon they allowed us to use their Spa (free of charge) to freshen up for our trip home. We would stay there again.

“Receivership”

Apparentyl the Westin Auckland is in receivership. Consequently a number of the rooms are not available for guests. With the lack of people in the common areas there is a lack of "buzziness" one would normally associate with a hotel of this quality. Also the areas for drinks is not terribly inviting. The hotel is difficult to find when arriving downtown by the airport bus and is a fair walk. Locals are unfaimilar with where the hotel is located. A courtesy pick up from either downtown or airport would be useful.

Area recommendations
The circle bus is worth catching. It costs only $1.70 per trip and is a frequent service. It goes along Ponsoinby Road. It also goes past the Voctoria markets, along Queen Street and past Newmarket. Newmarket has two cinemas and an indoor swimming pool as well as many shops and eating places. The ferry trip to the Whatiki island is worth it. You can also choose a tour of the vineyards or simply an island tour when booking your ferry trip. Alternatively there is a bus on the island you can hop on and hop off. Or hire a car.

“One of the Best Hotels Around”

I am absolutely in love with this hotel. Everything, from the location to cleanliness, from staff to dining - this place has it all. Stayed there last year for the first time, and had to return again. The fitness centre could have been slightly larger, but that's a minor point, as it still had all of the equipment for a good workout. When you are there, do try the Q restaurant. The quality of food, service and a selection of wines will make you want to come back over and over. Top notch all in all!

“Very impressive and great location”

It is a very beautiful hotel - top class. I arrived in the morning after a long flight and I was greeted with an upgrade to the top floor with a balcony overlooking the marina. To top it off, the room was ready! The staff was very friendly and helpful. The lobby area was stunning. Key areas are within walking distance - close to the viaduct harbor, restaurants, Queen Street (shopping), and the ferry building where you can take a cruise to various islands. I will definitely stay here again.

“Almost a home run”

The Westin in Auckland is located on Viaduct Harbor. It's a very nice scenic location near restaurants and not to far from the ferries etc. My only issue was the fact they gave me a room that overlooked the bus depot. Each morning at 5AM the buses would start to roll. I loved the fact I could open the patio door for fresh air but it let in the bus noise too. My suggestion - stress to the hotel that you DO NOT WANT to be on the bus depot side of the hotel! It's a non smoking property so it always smelled fresh and clean. The bathroom was the best yet. The beds were very comfy too. You will love that feature. We never ate there because all sorts of good places to eat where close by. All in all I'd recommend them...

In Auckland go to the museum and see the Maori culture presentation and look over the fine collection of Maori art. Also, see the Wintergarden in Auckland Domain.

“A wonderful hotel”

The Westin Auckland is a wonderfully relaxing and beautiful hotel in a less bustling part of the city. The service is excellent and the rooms are in great condition. We had a quiet room that was perfect for resting after the long plane ride from the US. The bar and restaurant are appealing and good. I would be eager to stay here on a future visit.

“Not the best but not the worst either”

Upon arrival it was noticed that there was hair on the pillow. The room itself was of a decent size but considering that the stay in the hotel was for 10 days there was very limited closet space available. We requested to look at another room, a larger more expensive room but they too had very small closets so we stuck with the room we began with. Overall the hotel was nice but more closet space is needed as a stand alone little wall unit wardrobe does not accommodate clothing for 2 people for a week.

Traveller's tip
All the hotel is nice it really isn't as conveniently located to shopping, dinning or other locations as Princes Wharf (Hilton). Bottled water was $10NZD which is over priced so I managed to get to a store to buy my own but had to catch a cab to do so due to distance of hotel to any convenience store. Just a note, if you plan on sight seeing either rent a car or wear sneakers.
