Australia Mountain Holidays

Unfortunately not what we had hoped for …. but grateful for the few wonderful staff we met in the restaurant and the day spa who went the extra mile with their genuine care and expert hospitality skills. Not an ideal resort choice for a couple getaway so we won’t be returning or recommending. Most of the hotel is quite dated and run down. Our room was fine but we paid for what we expected - the Deluxe King/spa room (no balcony) no mountain views. The Billiard room was tacky, could be better equipped for over 18s (as it’s locked to guests anyway), maybe some music playing for atmosphere. Concierge service could be more present and offer assistance when arriving/ leaving. All guests seemed to be unattended to. He also asked why we had booked at the resort if we didn’t have kids here. Would have been a helpful tip before we booked. The outside grounds, gardens, pond, and pool area were all in need of love and attention. A better positioned/designed outdoor (partly covered) patio would work well to relax with a beverage or afternoon tea with views of the mountain scenery, which is why we booked there but instead had to view it from behind restaurant windows. Buffet breakfast was fine. Embers Restaurant offered a lovely atmosphere but unfortunately we found two decent bones in the trout and accompanying sauce tasted like water. It was our wedding anniversary trip away which we speculated in all our reservations across our weekend but resort staff did not verbally acknowledge.

The breakfast that was included was a good smorgasbord spread . But dinner menu was quite expensive for food that the average person would not eat and not very extensive.

Silvermere is very elegant and tranquil. The host was helpful and we have great memories of our stay.

The room was stunning and super clean and tidy. It had every amenity we needed (except a freezer section in the fridge). Champagne on arrival to celebrate our anniversary made it super special! The shower is hot with great water pressure. The bed was so comfortable and luxurious. I’m just disappointed the outdoor pool was closed and I wasn’t aware. It’s closed 2/3 of the year and you can’t sit by the pool either which is a shame.

It's an old hotel- the sitting sofa in the room is very old and soft- not comfortable The carpet is old. The bed and pillows are comfortable
