Easy to get around, helpful staff

Firstly, I want to emphasize that the staff at Kayumanis Ubud were incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive. We had absolutely no issues with the service. The welcome drinks and afternoon tea were also very thoughtful touches. Unfortunately, the property itself did not meet our expectations for a five-star resort, particularly compared with other five-star properties we stayed at in Bali and Indonesia. Much of the villa felt dated and in need of refurbishment. The furniture was older, there were stains and visible wear on the walls, and some areas appeared damaged or in need of repair. The overall condition also made the room feel less clean and polished than expected. We also felt the photos on Expedia made the property appear newer and more polished than what we experienced in person. I understand that the concept is to provide a traditional Balinese experience surrounded by nature, but this may not suit everyone. Much of the villa, including the bathroom, is outdoors and exposed to the elements. Our room was also quite small. The private pool appeared somewhat dirty, and I did not feel comfortable swimming in it. The staff and hospitality were excellent, but I believe the villas would benefit greatly from renovations, updated furniture, and improved maintenance to bring the property closer to the five-star standard we expected.

We've traveled extensively and by far this is one of the most memorable magical place to stay! People here are so welcoming that they are genuinely willing to help and assist in any way. The hotel grounds are so peaceful you wouldn't want to venture out. Also location is perfect! We walked all over the place without using any transportation. We are already planning to come back next year hoping everything would stay the same.

We stayed in a villa and it was amazing. The private pool was the perfect way to end each day after walking through the busy and hot streets of Ubud. The daily breakfast was always fantastic and the service was top notch. What we noticed in general was just how genuinely kind the people of Bali are and the staff at Royal Kamuela Villas was no exception. We would easily stay again and give this property and it's staff more than 5 stars if it was an option. We also had monkeys at our villa every day and it was awesome!
