8.4/10 Very Good! (1,003 reviews)
We recently stayed at this resort and had a mixed experience.
The positives were definitely the friendly and welcoming staff, who were always pleasant and helpful throughout our stay. The beachfront location was beautiful, and having both a beach and a pool gave us plenty of options for relaxing. The happy hour was excellent and something we looked forward to each day. The resort grounds and gardens were absolutely gorgeous and very well maintained. We also appreciated that towels were provided for both the beach and pool, making things convenient.
Unfortunately, there were several issues with our room. It was not as clean as we expected, the refrigerator did not work properly, and the hot tub on our balcony was not clean and appeared poorly maintained. We were also surprised that the room did not include a microwave, which would have been helpful during our stay.
Another consideration is the location. While the setting is beautiful, it is not really within walking distance of shops, restaurants, or other attractions, so transportation is necessary.
Overall, the resort has beautiful grounds, a great beach, and wonderful staff, but the room maintenance and cleanliness need improvement to match the otherwise pleasant experience.

9/10 Wonderful! (1,006 reviews)
Great place to stay while waiting on your cruise to begin. Nice and quiet. Rooms have seen better days. They also insist on closing out your tab after each drink. Not sure why they do this, but it was incredibly annoying.

9/10 Wonderful! (653 reviews)
The resort was above and beyond our expectations. The breakfast buffet was outstanding - especially the fresh pastries and the omelette bar manned by Heinz. The snorkeling right off shore was fabulous. If we ever are able to return to Moorea, we will definitely stay at the Sofitel Kia Ora again!

9/10 Wonderful! (1,116 reviews)
The hotel was easy to find and well located in the center of town, a quick trip to and from the airport with nearby paid, secure parking. It has a convenient breakfast restaurant on the main floor, a really cool surfing themed restaurant on 7 with good food and neat open air rooftop bar, perfect for sunsets.
Those are the pros, the cons are as follows: that rooftop restaurant had a band/dj and the music was thumping and loud until late on a Thursday night when we had to get up at 4am for an early flight. And our room, an upgrade facing the port is designed to look very hip, but the designers made some practical errors. The whole room is wired for “energy savings” so you have to keep your key card sleeve in the holder near the door or the entire room “shuts off”, including the air conditioner. The multitude of different light switches is unnecessarily complicated. There is no shower, but instead a big beautiful spoon tub with a hand held which is impossible to use without getting water all over the bathroom. The shampoo, conditioner and body wash are bolted to the wall and difficult to use. And the hair dryer can’t be used in the bathroom because the plug in that room isn’t appropriate for it. In addition the bathroom lighting is very minimal, so there’s no way to put on any makeup in there. There is also no seating area, but instead a high bar table with barstool seats; not comfortable. Looks cool though (LOL)
