Extremely Poor and Unprofessional Welcome Unfortunately, my experience at reception was extremely disappointing and, in my view, completely unprofessional for a hotel that is trying to maintain a certain standard. I had already paid for my one-night stay in full. However, upon arrival, I was informed that the hotel would also take a deposit and retain my card details, with the deposit potentially remaining held by their bank for up to five days after I had checked out. I was also advised of a 2.5% card surcharge. My concern was not simply about the money. I questioned why these additional requirements and charges had not been clearly disclosed in the booking terms provided to me before arrival. What was particularly unacceptable was the response from the manager on duty. Rather than calmly explaining the hotel's position or trying to resolve the issue professionally, he told me that if I did not accept it, I could leave the hotel and find somewhere else to stay. This was on a Saturday evening after I had travelled a long distance with my two daughters. I explained that I had booked and already paid for the accommodation and that my concern was that the hotel was introducing conditions that, as far as I could see, had not been disclosed when I made the booking. Despite this, the manager again angrily told me that I could leave the hotel. I found the whole interaction extraordinarily rude, dismissive and embarrassing for a hotel of this type.
