This resort is beautiful. The views are stunning. However, we have stayed at 2 other all inclusive resorts previously and this was far different than those experiences. Barceló Barvaro Palace boasts it is an all inclusive resort with many restaurants, bars, rooms with mini bars included, etc. The only restaurants that you could go to without reservations for dinner were buffets. The Sports bar had a buffet with a terrible stench and awful food. It was the restaurant which was open 24/7. We got reservations the second day and had terrible times for the restaurants, 9:00, 10:15, 10:15. The mini bar in our room had two liter size water bottles for 4 people, 2 cokes, 1 sprite, 2 small presidente beers, and a club soda daily. We had exactly 4 bath towels, 4 hand towels. We did have robes and slippers. We learned while watching the nightly show that the resort had two levels of all inclusive. Regular and Premium. Premium was the ocean view, probably alcohol in the room, etc. A butler to assist with making reservations to get into the almost impossible to get into restaurants. We had regular all inclusive and were not going to spend an additional $200 plus more per day. The food at most of the restaurants was not good. It was disappointing for the money we spent. The ocean was amazing. The pools were beautiful. My daughter loved volleyball and my son enjoyed the casino, but did not win. The weather was 83 degrees, sunny, and beautiul.

The Pros: The staff was all very friendly and helpful. The rooms are super big and comfortable. The bathroom is also big. My kid loved the kids club. The Cons: The food in general was not very good. The Split Restaurant and Toro where for me the two best options. Buffett was poor and food was always the same, mid. The resort is huge and although there are many restaurants there are not big enough to hold so many people. We had to wait for more than one hour to eat dinner at any of the restaurants. The buildings look like they need mantainence. The mayority of golf cars used to transport the guests look old and not well mantained.

Everything was wonderful, food was delicious. Our butler Luis was the best.

Overall, a good but not great resort. The positives: pools, beach, bars and bartenders and comfortable beds with good sized suites. The negatives: Food was average at best, restaurant service was very hit and miss (better at 9 Doors and the Italian restaurant; bad at steak house) housekeeping had to continued to be asked to supply the same amount of missing towels/wash clothes/etc that they took out that day. Shower area in room needs an update. Would we come back? Maybe if the price was right, but there are plenty of other AI resorts at this price point that are better.

Wonderful stay overall! The rooms were very clean and comfortable. My only small issue was waking up with a sore back on the last morning—likely just a personal comfort thing with the mattress. The golf course was fun to play on. I would play on that course again. The food was amazing, with a fresh and wide variety of options each day. The staff truly made the experience exceptional—everyone was friendly, accommodating, and incredibly trustworthy. I accidentally left my iPhone on a beach lounge chair and didn’t realize until the next morning. After I called, they responded quickly and had security deliver it right to my room. The property itself was spotless and beautifully maintained. I had a great experience and would definitely return!

Overall, we had a good experience. We were prepared to pay high prices so that helped with the sticker shock! We were shocked at the number of families with multiple kids! But to be fair, the cost of the water slides and other adventures was included (we also had the daily breakfast buffet which were the best meals of our trip). Food in the Village was disappointing—just so-so. We were a party of 7 with 3 kids so we didn’t try the more expensive restaurants. We had a king bed in The Royal and found it spacious and met our needs (though a microwave would’ve been appreciated). We had a harbor view that was beautiful but no balcony to sit out and enjoy it. If you have never been, Atlantis is HUGE! Signage is generally good but there were a few times in the beginning that we had to backtrack to find our way. We are walkers, but we did see shuttles. We used Bahamas Experience to transport to and from the airport (group shuttle for 2 round trip was $115). Trip from the airport was fine but on the return trip, the shuttle was 35 minutes late which really stressed my husband out! It all worked out but who needs the stress? We have no desire to return.
