"Our goal for our trip to Japan was to hike Mount Fuji, but one of the unexpected highlights was our stay at the Kappo Ryokan Uoichi! Post-hike, we moved from Tokyo to Osaka with a stop at the Ryokan in Shimada. Two families (eight of us) stayed at Kappo Ryokan Uoichi and had a wonderful time. The building is a 150-year-old restaurant, and the stay included a shared bedroom with eight futon beds, an adjacent family room, a private bathroom, and a shared onsen. "The room is bigger than I expected and is pretty comfortable. I love that they provide free noodles at night, free probiotics drink in the morning and free ice cream from 3 pm to 1 am. There is a public bath on the top floor, which looks very clean and nice but I didn’t use. The hotel is about .4 miles from Kakegawa station and is a good place to stay for going to an event at Ecopa stadium/arena. "
