Our room was not available at check in and we were asked to return in 30 minutes. After an hour and a quarter we were still waiting but, finally a young lady fixed that problem. The room was clean, in a nice location and serviced each day.
We ate at the Lagoon View, Golden Cowrie, Beach Bar and Grille and Takali Asian Restaurants and thoroughly enjoyed each of them. The staff were very friendly and attentive (even allowing for Fiji time).
While it may be a little expensive in some areas, this resort has everything you may need for a wonderful holiday.
My one criticism would be that many inconsiderate people reserve the Takali pool lounges early each morning and then leave for quite some time before returning. I witnessed on many occasions couples and families searching for somewhere to relax but found that plenty of towels had beaten them to the punch. On a couple of days there were five lounges reserved but were left unattended for 4-5 hours. People told us that the same problem existed at the main pool despite getting there early. I promise you that I am not exaggerating. This is a major blight on the pool attendants who, due to their nature, do not enforce an acceptable code to give everyone the opportunity to utilise the pool facilities. I hope that this complaint is absorbed by management and this issue is rectified.
All in all I will return to the Shangri-La Resort, even if it's to check on the pool lounge situation (lol). A wonderful experience for my wife and I.
