Kemps Yard Retreat

"We rather liked Kemps Yard, which must be fairly new to the listing. Very convenient for Thirsk town, quietly hidden away from the main road, and clean and cosy. Parking in the yard is almost impossible, although the neighbour is an expert at manoeuvring his pickup down the lane! The visitor's permit lets you park on the road and saves you from endangering your vehicle, but you may get your step count up while you unload. We were ok with the cobbled lane, but it wouldn't be so good for those less stable on their feet. The beds are comfortable, but the two singles squeak excessively, so much so that our adult daughter put the mattress on the floor. The house comes with every modern convenience and the Wi-Fi served three people perfectly well. As others have said, the laminate flooring in the kitchen has separated and looks unsightly, but it wasn't really a trip hazard."

"Stayed for a visit to Thirsk races. Plenty of parking available. The room was comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was very good. Restaurant has an extensive menu and the food was excellent. Nice outdoor seating area as well."

"Lovely stay in one of the smaller rooms. I was there for a single overnight stay - getting to the room late and night and leaving the next morning. The room was clean and quiet, the bed was comfortable, and breakfast was tasty and plentiful; everything I needed from my stay. The host was very helpful and friendly and told me for longer stays, he'd recommend one of the larger rooms, but the smaller room was perfect for when I needed somewhere clean and quiet to sleep and shower."

"Lovely little 2 bed house in great location for weekend in Thirsk - few mins walk to shops, restaurants, cinema, and there’s a pub serving food across the road. Clean, well equipped, good shower in bathroom too. Smooth check-in, no issues. Parking is busy but we always found a nearby spot. We used it as a base to visit the local area, loved visiting Nunnington Hall (nice scenic drive there). Great communication with host when needed. Would stay again if in the area."

"This cottage has a really nice vibe very clean and ideally situated for visiting Thirsk and the local communities. The market square is a few short steps away The railway station is a pleasant 30 minutes walk away, but it does have a bus service if the weather is not too good The cottage is spread over 3 storeys and is modern kitchen and bathroom on the ground floor and sitting/living room is 1st floor and bedroom top floor. We had a nice break and would consider visiting again. The cottage I has "
