  • (Flower is fuschia heath) A “BEAUTIFUL” DAY In typical Ian fashion, I had ideas where I might go but left it till the morning before I was convinced it would be Barren Ground. Despite its unattractive name there was a promise of wildflowers. I’d bypassed it on a previous trip but its curious name lured me in. I’d zig-zagged up the Jamberoo Mountain Road the day before but I still managed to marginally overshoot the turn off. Alighting at the carpark I could see I wouldn’t be alone, but you certainly wouldn’t call it crowded. I chose the Griffith Trail, apparently it’s rated number #30 on N.S.W. top 60 day walks. Tasmania really started something all those years ago when they came out with their top 60 brochure, stealing a march on other states. I was so pleased when I cracked 40 of them but N.S.W.’s had escaped me then and continues to do so. I have no idea where the rating on the sign came from. The trail has a feature, a natural stone bridge. That conjured up all sorts of images in my brain but I wondered if the 8kms would push my dodgy knees to the limit. Nothing ventured……. There was an expectation of wildflowers. It had said on sites that I’d checked that now was a prime time. They weren’t immediately apparent but when I came across the first batch it was merely a prelude. Soon they were in abundance, at times the best displays I’d ever seen. Violet, yellow and white were in profusion, scattered all along the edge of the track.

I have never given a place 10/10 before until now. Even the most beautiful locations often have a few things against them. There isn't a single thing I could fault about the accommodation. We stayed in the treetops lodge and every single little detail is taken care of. The spa is magnificent even in winter and the bath inside the lodge is even nicer. The view from every part of the lodge is fantastic and there is complete privacy. The bed is so comfortable and the amenities are perfect. Simple things like having oil and spices for cooking, cereal and milk if you want a snack, premium body wash, sony tv, modern bathroom, beautiful fireplace and heating. the grounds of the property are equally impressive. They are well manicured with the robot lawnmower doing it's job and local kangaroos visit in the afternoon. The trip into twon is an easy 8 min drive and there are plenty of great cafes and restaurants. And the owner Nick is so easy to deal with. We had to move our stay forward a day due to family commitments and he was so accommodating. For couples and families I cant think of a better place to stay for a weekend. For us it was absolutely perfect.

The Tree Tops was the perfect romantic escape to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. Watching the sunset and stars from our private spa was magical. We left feeling like we had been away on a weeks holiday after two days away Nick was very helpful. We would also highly recommend lunch at The Crooked River Winery.

stunning location, great amenities. Good communication and easy access. Experience spoiled by loud dance music being player nearby until 4am. I was expecting to leave the property completely rested. Sadly that wasn't the case.

We loved every minute of our stay. The cottage was spotless, beautiful, the area was great, the hosts were great and respected your privacy. If you are looking for a very private place to stay for a special occasion this is the place to go. Can't wait to go back. It looks exactly like the photos on the website. The sign at the gate could possibly just be made a bit more visible. We went pass the gates twice before we saw the sign.

Beautiful accommodation set among very picturesque landscape. We stayed at the Rainforest lodge and it was just amazing! Complimentary bottle of wine on arrival and kangaroos right outside our balcony. Short drive to Berry, Shoalhaven Heads and Gerringong. Definitely the best accommodation in the region. Thank you.

Could have been much better

1st night was great, great location, with native wildlife. 2nd night not acceptable - Sewer gas from the septic filled the chalet overnight. Opened windows to clear the smell and froze our butts off. Heating wasn't working, and reverse cycle aircond not listed as such, so a bit of a comedy of errors. Owner offered a discount on a future visit, but we are not going again. Didn't seem to realise the incident was their fault.

My husband and I stayed at the Treetop Lodge for two nights during our visit to Berry. I can’t recommend high enough for this property as it ticked all the boxes. It’s not far from town but is very quiet and private. I use earplugs every night as I am a very light sleeper but I don’t need to use any while we stayed here! The lodge is very modern, spacious and has a full kitchen plus outdoor bbq. It also has a gas fireplace although we haven’t used it because it’s summer. The owners are very friendly and look after their place really well. There are three other cottages on the property and they are all at a considerable distance to each other so you don’t have to worry about your privacy. Make sure you book well in advance as they are very popular. This will be our choice of accommodation whenever we come this way.

Such a lovely place to stay for a break away and far enough out of town to enjoy the serene landscape. The property is perfect for a family of 4, kids loved roaming the area and we even got to see kangaroos!

Tranquil retreat.

Cottages are far from each other, so privacy is good. The cottage is clean and homely. Plenty of extra blankets if you need them but the heaters and the fireplace did the job. Plenty of local attractions around. Enjoyed the stay very much.
