I booked this last minute and so glad I came across it. Booked King but got free upgrade to large King. Everything excellent, very comfortable, quiet, clean, plenty of extras in room including bottled milk in fridge, two bottles water, cotton wool and buds as well as the usual shower gel, shampoo, conditior soap, and an extra nice touch wine glasses in room. Host very friendly and informative, folder provided with lots of information on local area. Mini bar with honesty box available in lounge. Delicious breakfast with plenty of choice. Great location in quieter area inbetween busy bowness and windermere and we parked right outside front door, no charge. Could not fault it at all and would definitely stay here again :)

What a lovely place is St Johns Lodge, made all the better by being run by Rich and Ada, who were lovely, and couldn't do enough for us. The room was very tastefully decorated, very comfortable. The bathroom was large, and the shower easy to get into, and loads of lovely hot water. The breakfasts were the best we've had, and Rich and his team did everything to make it perfect, even managing to get coffee to my husbands liking (a very difficult feat!!). They provide a very useful folder that has places of interest to visit, restaurants and walks in the area. They were very easy to talk to and I cannot recommend this guest house highly enough.

Fantastic, needs no more words.
For the the very beginning to the end, our stay at St Johns Lodge was amazing. We were welcomed in an extremely friendly way, with personal service from the very go. We had been given a free uograde to the supreme king room and what ablively room it is, clean, comfy bed, good sized tv and very nice bathroom. The bed was so comfy my wife fell asleep at 930pm( the walking and wine may also have contributed to this!!!) Breakfast was gorgeous, i had full english and the wife bacon, eggs and has browns, all washed down with as much fruit juice or tea and coffee as you wanted. There was also a cold buffet of fruit, cereals and yogurts. This place is perfect for a nice walk up to Windermere or a stroll down to Bowness and all the restaurants, pubs and activitelies. All in all a fantastic stay and will defo book here again.

This little B&B in Windermere has standards of comfort and service which could rival a 5* international hotel. Before we arrived I received a call from Rich to confirm our arrival time. The room was clean, comfortable and appointed to a very high standard. The Breakfast selection was second to none, with lots of freshly cooked options - and all dietary requirements catered for. I would have no hesitation in recommending this B&B for an upmarket stay. It is within easy walking distance of Windermere centre with dining and transport options. I used the off-site health club which was about a 5 minute drive away.

Overall, we were very pleased with our 2-night stay. Excellent location. We mostly walked to sites that were nearby. The room was comfortable and clean and we slept well. There is parking onsite as well as down the road--this was somewhat stressful when we first arrived, as it was quite difficult to get into the one remaining space on site--it requires some maneuvering and the location is right by a low-visibility bend in the road with cars zipping by and lots of pedestrians as well. Would not have been an issue with one of the other two spots, however; we did not try the other parking down the road, but that would not have been very convenient given we had a lot of luggage. One minor complaint: there is a lit sign that appeared to be on all night and brought some ambient light into our room (which was close to the sign); I didn't complain about it, but the owners might consider turning the sign light off at night (at least late in the night). The owners were friendly and responsive and did a load of laundry for us at a very reasonable rate. Where this place really shines is the breakfast: they have many options and really go above and beyond. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay.

My partner and I stayed here as a last minute getaway from home before we got started with christmas. The accomodation was perfect, the location was about 10 minute walk into Bowness itself, the hosts were perfect polite, professional and informative. The food was beautiful with a good broad selection. The double bed en suite room was very clean and tidy with a good variety of tea / chocolate. The bed was comfortable and spacious. We would definatley stay here again

We really enjoyed our stay at St John's. We had a large room which was very clean and beautifully decorated, The breakfast is excellent with a large choice cooked to order as well as a cold buffet. The location is ideal for Windermere with the lakeside and all local shops and restaurants in walking distance. The parking is a little restricted but we did not have any issues during our stay.

St John's Lodge Weekend
From the moment we checked in, to the moment we checked out, nothing was too much trouble. I am vegetarian and was provided with a better choice for breakfast, than at any hotel I have ever stayed in. We stayed for three nights and tried something different each morning. The quality was also excellent. All areas were spotlessly clean, throughout and very well maintained. I can't recommend this place highly enough. Excellent.

3 nights at St Johns Lodge. The Host was very helpful. Explained everything we needed to know, as well as offering info about the wider area. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic. From to start to finish excellent service . Room comfy clean.even little fridge in room to house fresh daily milk. Breakfasts out of this world 24 cooked items to choose from. Vegan/vegetarian too. Cereals. Fruit. Juices. 20 mins walk from Windermere lake. And restaurants about 20 opposite direction. Access to off site leisure facility with 15m pool, jacuzzi, sauna & steam room. If u feel energetic gym room too.if u fancied a massage they do these at extra costs. Owner Rich was very helpful. If you wanted flowers or choc for special occasions he can help arrange that. We would highly recommend this place

On arrival, Rich welcomed us and ran through everything we needed to know for our stay by running through the welcome pack. There was a wee bit of confusion with the payment but it was quickly resolved with no further issues. The B&B was in a fab location as it is a 10 minute walk from Windermere and Bowness-on-Windermere, both of which are great with plenty of restaurant choices. The breakfast was brilliant with plenty of choice! They're big portions so it'll definitely set you up for a day of exploring! The room was clean and had everything we needed for chilling out after a day of exploring. The only negative for me was that the bed and pillows were a wee bit hard but that's just me! The room was quiet and everything else was fab! I ordered a bottle of prosecco for arrival for my husband's birthday and it was set out on the bed for us with towels made into swans for us arriving in the room which was a lovely touch. We would definitely stay here again in future as it was in an ideal location, had everything we needed and the hosts were very attentive and overall fab. Thank you!!

The owners are fabulous. Very friendly and helpful. Room was super clean and had everything you need for a short stay. Toiletries, tea, coffee etc, fridge, hairdryer. Breakfast was superb, lots of variety, fresh and high quality products. From hot to cold , fantastic selection. Customer service above and beyond! My hubby & I were so impressed with not only the property and location but with the staff too. Rich, the owner was helpful with info where to eat and what to do or see. The breakfast every morning was delicious and the overall ambience of the place was wonderful
