Both Cottages, The Farriers (ref 26967) and The Coach House (ref 26968) are set within the private, extensive and well cared for grounds of The Abbey Coach House. Restored to a very good standard, this ideal retreat combines a rich tradition with comfortable, modern living. Surrounded by the Lakeland Hills these unique, self-catering holiday properties are just a short stroll from the nearby villages where shops, restaurants and pubs serving local ales are in abundance. Whether its a romantic break or a relaxing family holiday, the properties are ideally situated as a base for exploring the Lake District. Take a 10 minute stroll to Bowness, cruise on one of England’s largest lakes. The craggy fells and peaceful lakes inspired William Wordsworth, whose home in Grasmere is open to visitors, and also Beatrix Potter, who lived at Hill Top at Sawrey, now preserved by the National Trust. Ambleside is only a short distance away. The bus route and train station are nearby. Shops, pubs and restaurants ¼ mile.

Home from home. Beautiful location, everything we needed, very comfortable bed the accommodationwas second to none. So quiet and peaceful stunning garden views front and back. The weather was kind to us.I would recommend The Farriers 100% for a weekend break, summer holiday. Just perfect

After the lockdown this year and not being able to go anywhere this holiday was bliss. To be able to go out walking in beautiful surroundings and eat out in some lovely places it was lovely. The cottage was perfect and Pam who lives next door was very tolerant of our lovely Irish Terrier who is only 6months old and his first holiday. Brilliant for dog owners. Cosy, comfortable cottage within a very short walk of Windermere but feels much more secluded. Has all you need for a relaxing stay. A couple of points which would have been nice to know from the description, but didn't spoil a lovely stay.......None of the garden is enclosed with the cottage, the vehicle access is pretty tight in a large vehicle (pickup truck), the 'dining area' is just the stools and breakfast bar as seen in the photos.

Fabulous property in a great location within walking distance to the shops and restaurants. The host could not do enough and such a lovely lady. The kitchen was well equipped and was certainly used during our visit. Only negative is the oven is not very efficient but adequate.

Great cottage. Very quiet and clean. Convenient for the area. Easy access to all the lakes. Rained a lot during the week but didn’t stop us enjoying our holiday break. Trip to motor museum most enjoyable. Would recommend highly. Trip round the islands of Bowness very good. Good landlady in Pam. She is very friendly and helpful. Will stay here again.

Fantastic break away with our Jack Russell! Pam was the perfect host and nothing was too much trouble. Lovely little bungalow, open plan with lots of space and brightness; garden was stunning and so peaceful as well. Windermere a 10-min walk away; great welcome guide with some good alternative walks into Bowness/Windermere/down to the lake. We only needed to put £1 into the electric meter (states needs £1 coins) all week so seems to be very energy efficient. We would definitely stay at the Farriers again, thank you.

Loved our stay in the cottage.

Loved our stay in the cottage. Great location and facilities. I know it’s a tiny little quibble but it was quite difficult to make tea as the kitchen knives were so blunt we couldn’t chop the ingredients easily. Other than that there’s no negatives!
