Mountain Laurel House

The Mountain Laurel House is a cottage style rental that can comfortably accommodate 6 guests. With a master bedroom (1 queen bed) and an open loft (2 queen beds), there is ample room for families and couples who are visiting the southern West Virginia coalfield region. Each room in the cottage has its own mini-split HVAC unit, ensuring everyone is comfortable, no matter where they are in the house. The spacious bathroom features a double sink vanity and a tub/shower combo. Additionally, there is a full kitchen -- stocked with dishes, utensils, and cookware -- making the Mountain Laurel House a home-away-from-home.
The Hatfield McCoy Recreation Center is right next door to the property, providing bowling, food, and other activities once you return from a day of riding. Other eateries and gas stations are within a 5 minute drive, as well.
Guests can enjoy the beautiful mountain views each evening from the covered front porch, or they can sit by a fire in the yard while they take in the serenity and solitude of the surroundings.
Located 1/2 mile from Buffalo Mountain trailhead, trailering to Trailhead 14 isn’t necessary; you can ride from the property right to the trailhead. There’s also plenty of parking on the property, making unloading your ATV/UTV effortless.

    Great place to stay

    Our stay was great!! The owners were right next door and was very accommodating. It’s behind the bowling alley which was a win. The house was fantastic. It’s was super clean and had plenty of towels. It’s located very close to buffalo mt trail system. All in all it’s was the perfect place to stay.

    House, host, and location are great. Very close to the buffalo trail head for riding atv and utv. House is very cozy and there is a bowling alley next door aswell.

    Awesome little spot

    We spent a week down here to ride the trails. This cabin is close enough to everything and just far enough of the road so you feel secluded. The cabin was really comfy and clean. The owners are the nicest most accommodating people. Bonus: their dog, Banjo, is the goodest of good boys!

    A perfect cabin for exploring the trails

    This great cabin was extremely close to the Buffalo Mountain trail head and was exactly as pictured. You will be very pleased with your stay here!

    Everything is clean / new, communication with Derek was perfect. Plenty of room for a truck and 24' trailer w/2 sxs. Even a hose and pressure washer for easy clean up!

    Everything was exactly what we needed and expected. So close to the trails which was the point of our weekend getaway. Friendly host and doggy too ! We will definitely go back!

    Home away from home.

    Perfect spot away from everyone. Quiet, close to trail head and a great little cabin. There was a fire pit, grill, split wood, fully stocked houseware / cookware. Will definitely come back.

    Private little cabin

    This was our second time staying at this cabin. It is very quiet and private. The cabin was very clean and we sat around a fire at night. The owner is very friendly and will make sure you have everything you would need. We will stay there again!

    Trail Riding

    Let me start by saying Derek and Ashley are amazing. Felt right at home from the first minute we got there. The cottage is exactly like the listing, very clean and well stocked. We enjoyed trail riding on Buffalo Mountain. My husband was impressed with the hose to clean off buggy right in the driveway…..what an added bonus! Unfortunately we had to leave early, but will stay again when we come this way and will let friends know about this gem.

    Quiet location with great trail access

    Derek was very accommodating. There is plenty of parking even with a trailer. The place was very clean. The fire pit was great. The location is very easy to find and easily accessible. We had everything we needed.

    Absolutely amazing!!!

    This house was so nice and clean!! 2 rooms and a lot bigger than the pictures. My husband and me stayed down stairs our son love the loft all to himself. The own is welcoming. I loved the dog!! Such a great place to stay!!!

    Sxs vacation

    The house is very nice and clean. It's very private from the road with only the owners home in front and back of a bowling alley past them. The property is right in the middle of several Buffalo mountain trails within a very short ride either way on the road. I would definitely stay again. The owners are terrific.

    This property was so clean you'd think you are the first one to stay there. It was designed and built as a vacation rental. The hosts are there for you if you need anything but invisible if you don't. You won't find a more perfect place to stay in Mingo County. It is everything advertised and more.

    This property exceeded our expectations. Just a short drive to multiple trails. The home was clean and equipped with everything we needed. The property owners made sure we didn’t need anything and recommended restaurants for us to try. We loved the quiet location of the property.

    House is just as advertized. Very close to Buffalo Mountain trail head. Conveniently located between Williamson and Delbarton. House was very clean upon arrival. The owner Derek is very helpful with anything you need. Will go back and highly recommended!!!

    Perfect spot to ride the trails!!

    We stayed here over Thanksgiving weekend and it was the perfect spot! We had a large trailer for our SxS’s and there was plenty of room! The trails are super close and you can ride the roads to get to any of the trailheads! The house is perfect! The communication with Derek was always timely and he was willing to go above and beyond on a few of our requests! Added bonus is sweet Banjo who will welcome you every day! We loved it and will definitely be back!!

    Perfect getaway!

    My wife son and I stayed here for 3 nights for my 40th to ride the Hatfield McCoy trials. The location was perfect! Derek was phenomenal! Always checked in to see if we needed anything! The home was perfect! Very clean and modern! We are already planning our next trip back and will definitely be booking here again!the added bonus was Banjo the dog! If you’re not a dog person he will stay away however if you are like me and my family!”, he was the sweetest friendliest dog! Thanks again for everything Derek and Ashley! Tell Banjo we miss him!

    Exactly what we needed!

    Great little place in an awesome location to access the HM trails. Trailhead is literally right up the road/ no need to trailer anywhere. House is small but has absolutely everything you need for a great stay. Ample parking for truck and trailer. I can’t say enough about how great the hosts are! Very friendly and super accommodating. Thanks for making our mini vacation stress free! PS- the top notch security guard Banjo keeps all the birds and critters away😂. 🐶
