Black Bear Brook: Between Mt. Snow and Berkshire East. Minutes to lakes/hiking.
Bring the whole family (or two) to this historic 1865 home with lots of room for fun. This 5 bedroom antique New England home is situated between Lake Whitingham and Lake Sadawga. 11 minutes from Wilmington, 20 minutes from Mt Snow or Berkshire East. You can boat, ski, fish, swim or hike. It's the perfect house for families to vacation with a game room on the third floor including ping pong and fuse ball.
The house sleeps 10 comfortably with a pull out couch in the downstairs living room for up to 12. The kitchen has all amenities (coffee maker, slow cooker, blender, etc), a live edge wood countertop, washer and dryer. It looks out over the living room so no one has to be left out while they cook. That open space leads into a dining room overlooking the yard where you can watch the local wildlife and listen to the brook flow by. A separate space on the first floor is a media room so you can enjoy a movie or a game. A half bath rounds off the first floor. The second floor has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms including two showers and a soaker tub. The third floor is entirely a game room with ping pong, fuse ball, basketball and more. The backyard has a dining area, backyard games and a firepit. The brook runs at the back of the property and you can dip your toes on those hot days. There is plenty of space for a family or two to enjoy a wonderful time in the Green Mountains skiing, hiking, swimming, exploring one of the many shires or attending one of the many local festivals year round.

We enjoyed our stay, the house was very clean with noticeable updates. Nice little back deck to sit out. It was directly on the road, but after 11:00pm or so traffic was practically non existent. It is an older house, but bedding was soft and beds were softer. Great host, no issues.
Location is minutes away from town. Location was easy to find. House was very clean and had all that we needed. Perfect size for our group of 5 adults, each having our own bedroom. We found plenty to do in the area.
Jane was very helpful giving us information of things to do, especially being a girl's weekend, she informed us of spas, shopping and great spots to see foliage, and nice restaurant nearby that had music. Would definitely stay here again.
Our family got together to enjoy a weekend of whitewater rafting and decided to all lodge at this property. We were so pleasantly surprised at the amount of room this home gave us. There were 5 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths that we all used seamlessly, without tripping over each other. We were either so tired we didn't hear anyone, or the house made it so it was quiet if people were moving around.
The kitchen was spacious, and stocked with whatever it was that we failed to remember to pack (coffee filters, bottle opener, etc.)
The property, linens, everything was clean, tidy and available for use without cringe!!
The outdoor space was used by all of us each morning and in the evening after rafting. They had had a storm before our check in, and the host let us know ahead of time that the table had been destroyed, so we knew that coming in. The fire pit was secluded and did its job!
The game room on the top floor was a hit with the younger crowd with us! They played ping pong and darts!
The only words of wisdom that I would throw out there is that there is parking for only 4 cars on the property, so if you are coming in from many different directions, think about parking. Also, I would pack outdoor chairs as there were only 6, but that is not a big deal at all. Not a negative by any means!!
The hosts were very communicative and amenable. They were easy to deal with, provided answers quickly, provided check in information as they said they would.
I would come again!
The home was charming and beautiful. The location had beautiful outdoor area that was tranquil. Great surroundings as well. It was the perfect place for our retreat. We will definitely be back again:)
This was the perfect place for a quick weekend getaway. The hosts were quick to respond, everything was clean and just how it is advertised. We loved it here!
